Ok cool so I have today bought a Beach Turtle headset from Amazon and much to my joy I got an email telling me I would get them tomorrow even though I didn't pay for next day delivery. In fact every time I buy something from them such as games or whatever I'm always chuft when the "3-5 days delivery time" turns out be at most 2.

Most of my games and even my surround sound system came from them and everytime I buy from them it always comes ahead of time and doesnt cost that much for new stuff.

Who is your favourite online games retailer and why?
Mine is clearly Amazon for their fast delivery times and low costs.

Also, have you ever been scammed by an online merchant?

I have never suffered this myself but Its always goods to talk amongst your fellow gamers and find out who the good guys and scammers are from personal experience.

Gameplay. Fast and free UK delivery with prices that GAME can only dream of. The only downside is that when it's out of stock, they decide that the stock will fill up by concentrating hard. I.E: They barely restock titles.

Never been scammed, but Gameplay said it would take 2 weeks to restock TWEWY when I ordered it. I couldn't wait any longer and found out it was actually sold out everywhere and ended up getting it from Amazon, which also ran out of UK copies and gave me an American one (You can tell since it said T for Teen rather 12+.

Calumon: Jack buys things for me. It's kinda hard...

Steam, obviously, for their constant sales, easy friend communication, news, and most importantly the instant downloadable games. Amazon gives you your games in two days, ours in two seconds (plus downloading time, which is a *****).

I like Amazon too. So much that I have joined Amazon Prime which I think is worth the annual fee if you buy alot from Amazon. I really like their pre-order coupon for video games. Not all the pre-orders have it but most of the popular ones do. So far I have been getting $10-$20 off the next video game purchase from Mafia2, Dead Rising 2, Fallout:NV. I pre-ordered Fable 3 which had a $20 off next video game so um, next CoD for $20 off sounds good.

I get games from Gamestop 'cause I like instant gratification. I get games from Amazon that
A. Gamestop doesn't carry
B. Are way cheap. I'll buy an expensive (recent) new/ used game from Gamestop to get points on my rewards card, but that's it. If Amazon has a way better price ($10.50 for Chrono Trigger as opposed to $19.99) I'll go for that.

I also have their rewards card, so I'm kinda stuck...

I hardly ever buy stuff online if I can help it.

Amazon and B&N have actual monkeys working in their shipping department, so shit always arrives damaged bouncing around unsecured in a box much too big.

I really like Amazon.

They lower prices quickly after launch, and give you credit towards games when you pre-order major titles. And not shitty credit. $10 or $20, too.

Different websites for different stuff. When i use a new website to order from i always look first for complaint topics online.

Fav is a dutch website that sells games ( www.dimensionplus.nl ) , every new game mostly in stock on release (if pre-ordered it arrived here on the release date.

Never been scammed though the longest i had to wait for something was an order from decalgirls that took almost 6 months.

but i use more:
www.archonia.com (european anime/manga website)
www.yesasia.com (for asian movies and or cd's)
www.hlj.com (mostly for special manga/anime merchandise)
(not to mention webcomic shops (for pockets , bundles or even merchandise)

Steam might be added to the list soon as well

EDIT: Good online retailer - [name of website removed just in case it is against escapist rules] always sent synthetic cannaboids (is that what they are called) first class with next day delivery.

I've yet to find an online retailer that hasn't screwed me over, here is a list of those that have.

Amazon - Not honouring prices they advertise (they don't by UK law have to honour prices, please don't message saying they do it is an "invitation to view" when a price is advertised not a legally binding agreement of price until the money leaves your account). More Activision's fault, COD4 GOTY no longer including map pack. Limited edition has gone up in price, fuck you, you can't have it.

Tesco - As above (point 1).

HMV - As above. Also the item you ordered at price X is out of stock but we have the same item for sale at a higher price. We have take your order we have no intention of pursuing the limited edition you ordered, fuck you you can't have it. You ordered a Hitchcock boxset with 10% student discount, we have sold out but we have sent it to people who ordered after you (my brother) who paid full price.

Shopto.net - We sent your product to the wrong address, are usual guaranteed delivery or £3 credit doesn't apply in this case. Also you ordered the "classics" version of this game, here is the normal version.

Play.com - Available in one to two weeks (three months later we haven't collected sufficient orders with supplier to get your product).

Argos - We are not honouring said price.

Zavvi - we will send your preorder out a month late and it won't be sealed!

Sure there are good retailers (that won't screw me over) but on the whole I find they are all shit from time to time.

Steam.

I'm so used to it now that having to buy physical copies for the 360 is a real pain in the arse.

I use play.com for the fact that there is no delivery costs and they usually deliver within the timeframe they say.

I'm going to jump on the amazon band-wagon.

They sent me an email the other day, apparently the price had changed on a game that I had pre-ordered(and had already been delivered, and I was enjoying)and they were refunding me £5.

I approve of this.

See that's just good community relations. They care enough to refund the difference. Its £5 yeh but if 1000 people get the refund thats £5000. Gotta love honest companies who give a damn.
