i just had a brain wave, now im probably not the first person to think of this but... what if publishers sold just the multilayer and the single player sepratlly but at lower prices?

think about it. If your not gonna touch the single player then why pay for it?
some with multilayer.

do you think this is ever going to happen?

I wouldn't go for it unless one half was given away for free, and the other half was what you payed for. F.E.A.R. was this way, with free multiplayer but single player that you had to pay for. I tried the free multiplayer, didn't like it as a multiplayer game, but saw enough promise in it to buy the singleplayer, which I enjoyed immensely. I would never pay for just multiplayer, but I have already downloaded it for free and been convinced to buy the single player in the process.

Don't give them any ideas. Think of all the additional little costs that they can force us to pay should we want both, like:

Allow your leveled-up character from single-player to play multiplayer (or visa versa): $10
Allow you to transfer your special weapons/armour/upgrades/items/helicopters/etc: $2 per transfer
CBP for buying both halves of the game at any time after initial purchase: $10

You get the idea...

There was an Extra Credits that sort of touched on this.

Not a flame, just saying.

However comma, I think it's important to note that we're more likely to see two halves of a game at full price or nearly so than any real discount.

No. I do not think that this will ever happen. I would love to see it happen, but I don't think that studios can effectively make a full price game, and sell only half of it. There would be no real way for them to recoup their production costs.

I dont know, arent they already given that you buy a game for X reason and the other portion is given away for free?

I mean seriously is there even a reason to bother making a single player campaign in games like CoD? I mean they have pretty much conceeded to that fact considering they have dropped content time down to like 6 hours. But its not like many people play it for the single player anyway.

And honestly it wouldnt work, because if you did split them up like that... no one would buy what they didnt want, and all they would be left with is half the profit.

Sure, IF they cut the price in half too.

Not likely to happen though. Singleplayer is usually the bigger expense, with all the cutscenes and voiceovers.

More DLC for both is prolly the path were heading in the short term.

That would actually segregate the market too much and may actually hurt the publisher more than just putting everything in the bundle.

Regardless, I'd go for just singleplayer. Xbox Live and PSN suck.
