I've got a question about buying Microsoft points. I've heard that paying for Xbox Live online is a bad idea because you get essentially forced into buying more every month. Is it the same with points? Like, would I be able to buy 500 Microsoft points and not have to buy another 500 every month or something? So I can actually do one-off purchases?

No, you only buy points when you choose to. As for the Gold subscription, yeah, it sets you up to auto-renew when the deal is up, but you can choose to turn that off if you want.

Yup, what ordinary said. A Live Gold subscription auto-renews monthly, yearly, or whatever you set it to, unless you turn that off. Points, however, you buy as you go, kinda like charging up a gift card.

nope you keep the points until you use them up (kinda like buying money in another currency)
