This question has been festering [do questions fester these days?] in my head for quite some time, and this newfangled 'History of the Escapist' thread brought it forth from the murky depths.
Also, it only really applies to the older members.


..Namely..

What was the Escapist like pre-Yahtzee?Was it strange to see the influx of fresh-faced and often annoying new users?
If these claims about Mr. Croshaw heralding an increase of about 400% in site traffic is true, the place must have been quite quiet before.

I dunno to be honest!. I was here in February 2009 and that's all I care about. Whatever came before me is history and most likely..rubbish!.

Actually, I think this whole "badges" business at the Escapist is new as well, I mean I don't think these were around when the site first launched.

Edit: Did a quick check and Voilà [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.67760]. Badges were introduced on (or nearest to) the 7th of August 2008.

Life before that date clearly was shite!

I am post Yahtzee but I'm pretty sure if they created the site around Yahtzee It would be called something different?

People who always talk about yahtzee must be annoying (just like you, har har har, Mr. Make-A-Yahzee-thread).
I can't tell about pre-yahtzee days, because he's video made me go here, but i can surely tell that there were no yahtzee related threads, like this one, before.

I have not seen it with my own eyes, but rumour has it that the old site provided downloads that made your disc-drive bake muffins.

Alas that we have lost such a marvel of technology.
