No this isnt another "I HATE HATERS GRRRRRSKI" thread, i have seen a few threads asking about what sequels dont people like or shouldnt be made, and i have seen quite a few people say red alert 3, for the record i own every C&C game to date except tiberian twilight which i dont intend to get, but thats not the topic of this thread.

I though red alert 3 really captivating, brilliantly thought out, engaging, and the best of the red alert series, followed by yuri's revenge, tbh the games have just been getting better and better over the years.

Again im not looking for a flame war i want reasons people dislike the game, proper problems with the game not just "It ruins it for me" or because it was "too whacky" i just want to understand why one of my favourite games of all time is disliked by what seems a decent percentage of C&C fans?
I enjoyed it. I managed to take it fairly seriously. I mean Red Alert is the wacky cousin, but how can you now love parachuting bears. Para. Chuting. Bears!

My main problem with Red Alert 3 was it felt like there was nothing but hard counters within the game. This, combined with the fact that it always felt very fiddly to control things, made the entire game feel like an absolute cluster fuck.

Well I was skeptical about it the moment I saw the first bit of media for it, but I did give it the old college try and I did have fun playing it at first, but then I got to this one mission on the Soviet Campaign, something about destroying a Japanese harbour, and I got fed up with it.
Anyway some of the biggest problems I have with Red Alert 3:
- Buttfucking the Red Alert canon
- Time travel that doesn't make sense
- Poor casting choices.

Now let me go into more detail. Those first 2 kinda go together. According to the recap at he opening of Red Alert 2, it was in 1937 that Albert Einstein traveled back in time and took out Hitler resulting in the Red Alert timeline in the first place. Now at the beginning of Red Alert 3 Tim Curry's character and generic Soviet scientist go back in time to 1924 and take out Einstein. Ok, now maybe I'm overthinking that, but since you took out Einstein before he had the chance to take out Hitler, wouldn't that restore Nazi Germany?
Anyway as for the casting, I applaud the casting of Tim Curry and George Takei, they're awesome, but Jenny McCarthy as Tanya? That's just wrong. Jenny McCarthy is just a stupid slut who can't act, at all. I liked the actress that played Tanya in Red Alert 2. Not that I'm entirely opposed to a change in actress, but Jenny McCarthy doesn't suit the character, AT ALL.
Anyway, I'm done now.
