Hello again dear escapist fellows!

I started working on my mom's old lp player. I've almost everything I need to repair this thing but I just need to know one thing for sure before ordering this stuff.

Sorry for poor discussion value beforehand but this lp player is from the 70's and I'm from the 90's. Meaning that everything I've learned about it is what I have read on the internet (since my mom lost almost every manual she had when we moved) and I'd like to be sure about everything before doing ordering the stuff I need, like I stated before. I don't really know lots of other forums where I could ask this and get honest answers but escapist. So sorry but I'm still going to ask it anyway.

The thing I wonder is are MIDI and DIN 5-pin cables the same? I've seen lots of pictures of them and they look the same though I'd like to be 100% befory buying some adapters to connect the lp player to amplifier.

Again, if you want more discussion value please go read some other thread or maybe go see my older thread: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.165588#4366810 . If you know the answer please help. Thanks for reading and maybe even helping me.

So they kind of are the same but not really? Well that's one step closer to the truth. Thanks for that.

As addition I took few pictures of the plug that is coming out of Dual cs 504 turntable (the lp player I was talking about). Which do you think it is? I really don't know it anymore. The pictures are in high resolution (2816x2112) so it may take few sceonds to see them fully. Hope they help you to identify it.

As far as I know a MIDI cable is a type of 5-pin DIN cable, with the 180 degree arrangement. I think you have the right cable there alright, and from looking at the pictures they're fairly identical, so unless the internal wiring is different (unlikely, seeing as the input arrangement is supposed to make these things distinct) you should be ok.
