no sure if this belongs here or in religion but i just realized its getting close to easter. now i have been a Christian for all my life and the first thought that popped into my head when i heard that easter was close was "oh goody cadbury creme eggs are available again" and it kind of struck me as odd that that would be the first thing i associate with easter so what are your thoughts and things you associate with a holiday

I love cadbury caramel eggs! Easter has the best candy of all the holidays beating even Halloween. Honestly I cant think much beyond the candy I'm not very religous so Cadbury eggs are all I can think about.

Cadbury Creme Eggs are more delicious than Jesus. Can any Catholics here confirm that statement?

Easter passes me by: I'm off university but otherwise there's absolutely nothing of note: I don't particularly like chocolate or whatever, and religion is negligible. Kind of a non-starter.

Why? Ostara is a fertility festival. Eggs represent new life and all that. Same thing with bunnies - they have lots of babies, so they get associated with spring fertility.

It's the same reason that you put shiny objects on a pine tree in December - because a Pope changed the date. Jesus was born in the spring/summer, not the winter, and there's no mention of when he died in the bible.

It depends if the bread is storebought.

I'm protestant, but hey, I still know.

Considering every week they partake of his flesh and blood in the form of stale powdery crackers and $4 a bottle red wine...I'll agree with this statement.

I also devour the chocolate rabbit as fast as possible. I feel it is a duty.

This guy pretty much summed it up. Like just about ever other holiday that's not named after a saint (Christmas doesn't count, I don't think Jesus was ever officially made a saint), Easter wasn't originally Christian.

The day that they stop making Cadbury Creme Eggs is the day I make the world burn.

For me easter is about how santa claus died for our sins then came back to life three days later to go build presents at the north pole

Peeps, but I hate the taste of them. Easter is a pretty boring holiday for me.

I was going to nay-say but you know what? The quality of the Cadbury eggs beat out the quantity of all Halloween candy: name brand or otherwise. I need to stop by the drug store and buy a few dozen eggs.

And a fair few that are named after a saint.

For me, easter is about hot cross buns. If you really care about the religion, the date doesn't really matter. If you don't care, then it really doesn't matter.
