It sounds a lot like the multiplayer editor in GoldenEye 007 [http://www.amazon.com/James-Bond-007-GoldenEye-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B003O6FW6E/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1288280717&sr=1-1] to me.
Actually, that's got me thinking:
I don't think I've ever seen a shooter with a multiplayer as customisable as Perfect Dark.

You could choose the specific weapons, where they spawn, the personality types of the bots, the music that played in the level, slow mo under specific conditions, commands to give the bots in game, and a truckload more.
The Timespl...

The Timesplitters games are the only ones that came close.
OK Nevermind, you know your stuff.

Funny though, how slowly re-implementing these features is a huge selling point nowadays. Of course it definitely works on me. Bots in split screen will be bitchin' fun to play again.
Same here. Hopefully this will start a trend in the industry to admit that FPS multiplayer should never have strayed from the Golden Time of Perfect FPSes like Goldeneye, Timesplitters and Perfect Dark.

My question: Is there a level editor similar to Forge Mode, because that's the only reason I'd ever buy a Halo title...

... Or a 360...
Yes there is a map editor but it's only for the PC version.

You Sir/Madam, are trying to start a flame war, Halo, as it is, is a first person shooter, as is Call of Duty, though they may exist in differnt universes and times, you seriously expect aspect of them and their subsiquent game mechanics to not overlap? It's called innovation, and it can't happen if ideas aren't adopted because "X did it first you n00b." If you love gaming like i do, don't hinder it by being a fanboy, just love gaming as a whole. Your statement has no discussion value, it is intended to meerly grief, please refrain from this in future.

You can sign another Xbox Live Gold account in to play along side your friends and keep your earnings with you, this however is not avalable for PS3 at the time, They are working on it with their team, it is unknown when or if it will be finished, but you can still have a guest play along side you, but unfortunately they do not keep their progress.

Online splitscreen?
Awesome. To be honest, I can't believe they've held out on it for so long.

I'm also liking the sound of having customisable setting for online matches. If only MW2 had had that option, think of all the frustration it could have saved...
Offline multiplayer is customisable only, PC users can Rent their own servers and have unranked online multiplayer matches that are fully customisable.

Must...maintain...personal...morals...

I've got to stop reading about this before I break my Activision boycott.

Maybe I'll buy it used...But no...that means that someone else might buy it new if there is one less used copy...and I'll inadvertently have given Acti profit.

So they are stepping their multiplayer out of the 90's and giving people options that golden eye and halo have been building their games off of forever?

well. game is a buy for me now. i really was planning on avoiding it, but they won me with the online splitscreen multiplayer. if i am gonna play multiplayer, it is with freinds. and modern warfare 2 really failed me on that. spec ops was fun, but playing 2v2 with 3 freinds over, or even worse, 1v1 with one freind over sucks. thats whats nice about halo, however, black ops will beat halo for me. i like cod better.

Sounds good, I've always loved Resistance, GoW and Halo for this feature. Multiplayer online splitscreen is always fun.

As for games customisation, unless they allow me to make a far out game mode involving 4 teams, 8 flags... No wait, 16 flags, and the object is team A have to get their flags from the other teams, (they don't start with any) and then run is massive circles while team B has to watch and lose points for blinking with team C containing everyone with a headset has to scream insults at their walls and points are awarded for originality while team D have the special function of unlimited grenades and have to throw them at walls to score kills (kills are only counted if the grenade has bounced off a wall first) then I am not too impressed, will be fun I suppose.

Say that paragraph out loud, exactly as it is typed, lack of punctuation is intended.

Winners win if they can do it without running out of breath.

My question is whether they're paying you for making this news topic. No other games get this kind of coverage, why the Call of Duty series?

i was hoping that they did figure it out for PS3, thats what i'll be playing it on. I've yet to see that on PS3.... i did have xbox and i know i've played with my neighbor countless times on halo 3 and reach.

I'm honestly not sure on this game at the moment in time, but just curious, is it possible to have a female character now with all the character customization?

I can't believe it, but Treyarch is actually restoring my faith in the COD series. I'll probably pick up a copy when I eventually get tired of New Vegas.

Split screen is actually starting to get annoying with the newer games. The new games are pushing the Xbox 360 (don't know about PS3) to its limits. With the addition of another perspective that the console has to render everything for, it really messes everything up. Just try split screen in Halo Reach, textures are just flat colors in some cases, even when they the object they cover is 10 feet in front of you.

Don't get me wrong, I love going to a friends house and playing Split Screen Xbox Live. It's just that these things bother me while playing. And it doesn't seem like they will be fixed until the next generation of consoles, but even then this same problem will most likely come back towards the end of their life cycle.

Maybe, but the game will only benefit from it.

You know I would agree with you, I really would but the "in-game friends list" idea just makes it really hard. Maybe I have just played to much Halo: Reach and Halo 2.

Congrats CoD, you're almost on par with halo 2.

...is it just me who thinks that these features should be as standard as a pause menu by now?

They're pretty useful.
I see what you did there, and as an avid Magic Player, i love it.

OT: Now I am convinced that I will buy this game against my better judgment. (However I'm still going to wait for the review from PC Gamer)

I'm not too sure, i'd take it as a good sign that there might be the option, as there is a female in the story missions, she is voiced by Emmanuelle Chiriqui.
