Please, please, please, pleeeeaaase let there be a Call of Duty game set during World War 1...
they would fuck that up completely, no question about it. the engine isint ment for large scale battles of ww1 anyways

OT: i really have hated the way they made world at war. the jungle missions just flat out sucked. it was all too liniear and predictible. the trees and everything had a weird color and i just hated the atmoshpere in general. im cringing at the thought of how a vietnam game will be.

overhyped and full shit most likely.

How come I'm not surprised by it progressing to this.

Suppose better than that one moment in history

I agree with Citrus, I would love to see both sides of the war. There are very little 'nam games and the only one I ever played (batlefield vietnam) I absolutely loved.
I remember Vietcong 2 having a go at showing both sides. It was an astoundingly bad a game. Part of the problem was that the VC campaign (where you get to play a young VC recruit) is only four short levels long. Most of the problem was that the game completely lacked the atmosphere and likeable characters from the first game. I really want to see a proper jungle environment made with modern engines - the ones in Vietcong were fairly sparse and linear.

I'm really looking forward to this if it's true, we need a good Vietnam game and if Treyarch can do it then God bless them. Also, if I don't hear any CCR wile playing I will be severely disappointed.

I'm actually pretty excited for this... I can't believe I just said typed that. Lately I've been enjoying Treyarch's games more than IW's. Call of Duty was excellent, but that was their high-point for me. World at War is probably my favourite CoD game, and most of that is owed to how awesome the finale is.

That picture makes me think of the A-Team intro...
Also, who wants to bet that the team leader will go down in about 3 missions in?
The american one surely will once they realize that nobody cares about them anyway. Sgt. Reznov is where the good writing is at. All the interesting cod1 missions were russian, all the interesting uo missions were british, all the interesting cod2 missions were also russian, all the interesting cod 4 missions were british and all the interesting cod 5 mission were russian too. The american parks are only there to keep the patriot fanboy's enthralled. Look at the amount of hype mw2 got for being set in washington dc, despite all those missions being the weakest part of the game.

I enjoyed the campaign for World at War, so I do have some hopes for this game too.

Maybe the elite Vietnam War unit would be in modern times and they would invade the United States of America? Fnar, Fnar.

Doubt you'll play as the Vietcong (although its certainly a hell of a lot more possible than playing as the Nazi's or Japanese), probably be a US Special Forces soldier and South Vietnemese regular.

Interesting. How will Cpt. Price and the S.A.S win this one? Only time altering drugs will tell.
I Lol'd.

Still, I am more interested in how they manage to sneak Cpt. "Highlander" Price into this one...

Well if they really want the SAS they could just you know by historically accurate and use the Australian version...

But a question, what's the big deal about a Vietnam video game? Yes I know we're all sick to death of WWII games, but didn't someone do a Vietnam game back a few years ago as part of a popular franchise that I can't remember now and it bombed totally?

this could be really sweet
no judging until the game comes out, but hopefully we'll be seeing some Huey action
that'd be awesome

You do know that trearch doesnt use CPT price or SAS
That. Plus if this is Vietman, Cpt Price will probably still have been eating baby food at the time. Which I imagine is something you are more likely to find in something like Heavy Rain than a COD game....

Captain Price was in World War 2. He featured prominently in both Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2.

This idea has been brought up numerous times before, and I'm pretty sure WW1 wouldn't be a condusive setting for a COD game. I mean surging out of a muddy trench into the waiting crosshairs of a german gun emplacement doesn't sound very heroic. Neither does huddling in terror at the bottom of a shell crater praying that the bombardment will stop before they release the chlorine gas. Kinda sounds depressing to me.

Would that actually be the same Price? I he was serving in WW2, he would have to have been quite old by the time MW2 rolled around.
