Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Has Super-Hard Permadeath Mode

Infinite Warfare's new ultra-hard Specialist and YOLO Modes will unlock after complete the campaign on any difficulty.

For all you masochists who revel in ultra-hard difficulties, Activision has just announced two brand new modes for the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare campaign, "Specialist" and "YOLO", that will really put you to the test.

Specialist Mode unlocks after you have completed the campaign on any difficulty, and features the following restrictions:

You can only heal with Nano Shots, there is no health regeneration in this mode.
Helmets are your only protection from headshots. They will take permanent damage and will need to be replaced.
Both Nano Shots and helmets take up equipment slots, so remember to equip them in your loadout on the Retribution before each level.
If you get shot in the legs, it will impact your movement. If you get shot in either arm, it will impact your ability to use equipment or aim down sights. Note: Your weapon can be shot out of your hands.

To master this ultra-hard mode, you'll have to master the lean from behind cover mechanic. "Approach the edge of cover while standing or crouching, and aim down sights when you see a chevron appear on the side of your crosshairs. You will auto-pop from behind cover as you ADS."

If you somehow manage to finish the campaign on Specialist Mode, then the game's ultimate challenge, YOLO mode, will unlock. As you may have guessed, in YOLO mode, you only live once. If you die at any point in the game you'll be sent right back to the start of the campaign.

Seems like a fun addition for those who like their games as tough as nails, as well as all the speedrunners and let's players out there!

Specialist mode actually sounds interesting.

Its so odd that the only things that seem appealing about IW are the things that the fans of the franchise generally don't care about.

On the long run, CoD players will become so hardcore that Activision can finally pitch their idea for a new, realistic and hard SWAT sequel that they've always wanted to create, but their fanbase wasn't ready...
But soon....

This is the most wishful thinking i have ever heard regarding Activision; hope you're right, though.

Also: YOLO mode. Cause that was a thing a few years back.

Do you guys remember? The thing that all gamers used to say?

...you know, the worst part is I feel YOLO mode (fucking hell that's a stupid name - you guys know people haven't used YOLO in years, right?) would actually be really easy combat-wise - Quick-Time Events, however...

Seriously, I'm on board with One Life Only modes, but when they're in games that tend to have quick time events that can kill you (don't actually know if this has any but given it's a CoD game, I'm assuming there will be) then they're a right pain in the dick.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Oh nice, I missed the ability to wall lean by aiming down sights. I always liked that, plus the, blegh, yolo mode sounds pretty interesting.

Did Infinity Ward hire some of the people behind the old Firearms mod? Because this tickles both my happy and my nostalgia.
