OK, I searched and there was a thread like this before, but it's outdated by several months so I don't feel guilty posting this now :)

Basically, let me start by saying that about a year ago, I joined an online art community called Deviant Art. It was pointed out to me by a friend doing Art at A-Level, and I joined simply to comment on the art I saw on the site. I've never really been much of an artist, can't draw or paint to save my life. However, today I went back to the site and posted my first pieces of work on there - some landscapes using a graphic design program, and some of my own original works using the wax and hotplate technique. The link to my page is here, if anyone is interested in seeing my somewhat unique style.

Now, you're all probably thinking, "he's just plugging his own works to us, report and move on". However, that isn't the point of this thread ;). No, what I was hoping to achieve was to see other artists from the Escapist perhaps post their own works on this thread or links to their own art on the internet in general, for the general enjoyment of all at the Escapist to see. I recall the last time a thread was made like this it was a success, so hopefully this will be too. Take a look at my works via the link, and post some of your own. I want to see the best art (of all kinds) that the Escapist has to offer!

DA is great, for so many reasons. Definitely one of my top 5 sites of all time.

Check out this topic [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.72805?page=1].

And while DA can be great, it is a good resource for PS brushes and such.. There is so much crap on that site, it is bloody scary.

But wading through the crap, there is a lot of good stuff.

I know, that's the thread I was referring to earlier. However, a lot of newer members won't know about that thread so they'll be omitted by accident. This is basically to restart the thread rather than resurrect an old one and mean people have to wade through hundreds of replies...

Thanks, but SimCity4? I was thinking more Myst Island... that was the basis anyway. I suspect that Cyan may have used a version of Terragen in the level design for Myst and its sequels...

Well, there is always a shitload of crap where anyone can submit anything. I think the really great stuff you stumble upon are worth slugging threw sewers, though. Or if you want a cleaner way, check out my fav collection :) (There are a ton of game ones there)

I don't quite understand why I thought of SimCity either, probably because I've been up for around 32 hours now.

Actually, taking a look at my profile on DA, I've realised that my Favourites folder probably says something about me in that there are only 3 relatively innocent images in there, the rest seem very, how shall we say it, macabre...

Me and a friend worked on this together. I have another one lying around somewhere...

I've always thought of deviantART as an ugly cesspool of bad anime/videogame fan-art, amateur Photoshoppers and shitty poetry, but my sister has been a member of that site for years and she spends absurd amounts of time on it.

In my experience internet "art" communities spawn nothing but angsty, drama-prone pricks.

Yeah.. One has to be careful when deciding to go wading through DA. Having a bucket and a few packets of mints nearby helps. And bleach.

But usually, it is worth it. I've gotten some awesome brushes off there, as well as some decent stock.

Either you've been reading too much of the Edge Chronicles or you have a mind that's more messed up than mine... Either way, very nice pieces there, creepy in a way, but very good :) Well done

I'm not very fond of DA to be honest. Not only when you post is there a very small chance anyone will actually see you because of all the shitastic crap that they'd need to get through to see anyone serious about what they do, but in the fine print when you submit art to their site it becomes theirs and they're free to exploit it however they want without your consent.

I have a profile somewhere on there but it's like 4 years old with all my cheesey steriotypical weeaboo highschool doodles on it that I no longer have pride in. I think if I wanted to showcase my art I'd have to make a site of its own. Although I don't think its yet on par with being showcased at all, so we'll see when that happens.

You never know, we might like it :) I know I never thought I was a decent artist at all until I discovered the joys of melted wax and old photo paper... Post the link and we can take a quick look.

If you like Heroscape and don't mind religious stuff, my friend has some pretty interesting things on his profile. http://foreverman724.deviantart.com/

The thread doesn't need restarting. The newer members will just have to suck it up. At this point you just want your own successfull thread.
