I have really shaky hands, so I can't draw lines the way I need them to go. I can imagine a fully formed drawing in my mind, but I can't put the pencil on the page properly to make it happen.

I can't draw. I got some great writing and sculpting skills, but drawing just doesn't cut it.

I can draw okay apparently... but my biggest problems are being unable to transfer what I see in my head onto paper, my hands shaking too much, wanting perfection to the point where I ruin my pictures, and drawing bodies. I can draw shoulders on up, but below that is where I give up...

When I was younger I was, from what I'm told, great at drawing cartoon characters... I was even allowed to teach my class to draw popular characters from the time... But then I got into anime, and that severely screwed up my drawing style...

heh, my biggest problem with bodies is all the joints. elbows, neck, knees, pelvis, ankles, wrists... unfortunately that's most of the body. All the advice I've received however is to practice drawing from the real thing - learning to draw from someone elses style will mess you up - which means if you've been heavily inspired by another persons drawing (like an anime) then you'll start imitating their style but without grasping the real thing, as it were. If you're interested in improving, then re-grounding yourself with those forms (bodies and stuff) as they appear in reality will be an important step in that process. Obviously once you've got that down then you can draw in whichever style you choose. I found one of the biggest parts in helping me to get ANY proficiency (and my proficiency is utterly minimal as I've not devoted the time to it) in drawing bits of the body I struggle with was to search for photographs of people, and then try and replicate it, paying very close attention to the bit I wanted to work on. I went from being totally unable to draw any sort of face to being able to sketch out a rough copy of soldiers from TF2 from my own mind.

I can't draw, but I can paint. It's odd. I've actually had two paintings go to a "Spotlight on Youth" showing, and one of those went to a museum for a a few weeks. It was pretty cool.
Wow. I can draw but I could never paint. xD
A lot of people tell me it's unusual to be able to paint but not be able to draw. Being able to draw but not paint doesn't seem to be as unusual though.

Also, I like your avatar. Asuka was one of my favorite characters from NGE.

Ah, that's pretty interesting.

Thanks. As you can obviously tell, she was also my favourite NGE character.

Also, I can't not draw because I'm bad at drawing(Although that's maybe 780% of it) I can't draw because I'm;
A)Not creative enough(although I can write up kick-as* stories)
B)Can't see enough details in things

Anything I've "tried" creating in minecraft can tell you those two points above :(
Me.

I can't draw at all. I can form grand detailed images in my mind, but my hands just can't translate it to paper. Also have horrible handwriting.
This.

I can do some decent minidrawings, though. Small is good for me.

What a depressing thought, especially considering my age. I know exactly what it feels like to have an image in your head and no way to get it out. I wish I had those skills, but my home life will not support artistic endeavors. I'm so depressed, by the time I'm allowed to start my life it will be almost over...
I've known a lot of people like that - feature of the community I circle within. Lots of people only just get their first taste of life at 50, or even later. It's important to recognise that life lasts a long, long time - and when it comes to acquiring skills, it's not just the years, but the hours. What it might take someone 15 years to become proficient in might take someone only a year or two because the latter person has made it their focus and invested a lot of time in quickly, whereas the other only has it as a passing interest. The focused person is also more likely to research and find optimised techniques and so on. Plus, the time spent learning is time well spent in and of itself. Though I'm quite young, I've had an interesting life so far, and I have a lot of things I would like to put to paper, and I've had the problem of not being able to manifest it also, the difference is, I write, I don't draw. It's estimated that it takes 10,000 hours to master something, but that's mastering something. You can make something that you're proud of, something that defines you, far earlier than that. I feel sorry that your home situation doesn't permit you that - hopefully there will be a way for you in the future to break away from that, and pursue your life down the avenue you desire. What I said was not meant to be demoralising - if anything, the opposite. The idea that proficiency is some ethereal thing you either have or don't is to me a far worse thought. One I'm finding to be less and less true the more I practice with my writing.

The only things that I can draw are stick figures, and even they look terrible!

I can't draw because:
1. I don't devote enough time for practice, and so don't get any better.
2. Cannot actually hold a pen/pencil properly in my hand, which limits my handwriting ability as well.

This kinda sucks because I am studying for 3D art/animation, and it would really help me out if I could make half decent concept art :/

Well... I can't really partake in this thread other than offering advice for the betterment of those who can't draw.

In my experience, or what little I have, is start off small. Draw something you are really interested in. For me, it was anime at the time. That taught me the human figure for the eyes, and face (Especially after some heavy wanking sessions), and gave me good character concepts.
Afterwards, you just progress, going through things that you have a liking in.

For example, I could not draw women at all, because I always got the face, hair, and body wrong, until I... *Ahem* Until I began drawing "Furries". Now, you may see it differently, but I saw drawing anthros and shit was a good learning experience, because you never had to worry about the face of the person, especially women. Just slap a dog or cat head on, and you're good to go.

Since then, I have gone from many different things, always learning and improving from each.

If you can't think of anything to draw, simply let your hand go whenever you feel angry, or sad, or whatever. Whenever I wind up angry, I draw vile things with fangs and barbed-wire for tongues. When I'm sad, I draw flowing lines of suicide and shadow. If you are able to, take inspiration from anything without fear, and create your own world with it. For instance, my username? Ixion, the thunder God? Taken from Final Fantasy 10. Yet through it all, I have made it my own. Why? Because nothing is ever truely original.

Also, if you see someone who is better than you, forget them. Picture them being burned at the fucking stake, because they simply drag you down. And never, I mean NEVER try to replicate a stroke of your own genius. It only winds up frustrating, and making you feel like a fraud.

Always build your confidence, never let it falter, and you'll become better.

I can think of great images in my head and I'll tell my friend to put it to paper and he can usually do it. The best drawing I've ever done is tracing, but free hand was Captain Infinity who had a football shaped head like Hey Arnold and his eyes were shaped like the infinity symbol.

If I sat down and actually took the time to do it right, I might be able to come up with something half-decent, but even a half-decent attempt would take me all day. I just don't have the patience for that. The people I draw on the fly always end up looking like Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes. Must be the tremendous amounts of it I read when I was younger and wanted to grow up to be a cartoonist. Either way, unless I spend a really long time on it, my drawing looks horrible, and the "quality" of my chalkboard drawing is a running joke among the classes I teach. Especially because if you ask a Japanese kid to draw a picture for a class, they lose all notion of the concept of time and take absolutely FOREVER on it, but they will produce a very nice drawing for you more often than not. Oh, the amount of class time wasted even when playing picture bingo because the kids were laboring over the little details of each... and every... picure...

I can't really draw well, or at least well enough for me. Its really sad too because I get these really awesome ideas for stuff I'd like to draw, but I can't do it myself.

Someday though... I'll make them. :3
