Over-dramatic? Have you not seen season 1? Ignoring the Diamond Dog episode (she was sort of acting to fool them), she did over reacting to thing lie rain and mud like the sleep over episodes.

Also be patience, there will be new songs in season 2 later on well actually there is one in an episode or two.

That's her having a pet peeve. Not being overly dramatic and falling on couches for no reason. Her freak outs in S203 had nothing to do with cleanliness so it felt unfitting. Otherwise, she's always strong.

And whoever mentioned the Dog and Pony Show episode, this guy said it right^. She was acting to fool them.

product placement went rampant...
Wait, what?
What? Where? When? What?!
Just look at how many times the "Friendship Express" makes it appearance...

Or how about, I dunno... A TWO EPISODE WEDDING SPECIAL, DESIGNED TO SELL A PLAYSET WITH A NEW PINK PONY PRINCESS.
In which case the entire series is all about selling toys.
I assumed you had something above the baseline in mind.
Honestly, I feel like this show is less about selling toys than any other incarnation of it. In fact, Friendship is Magic is one of the least 'WE MUST SELL TOYS!' shows Hasbro has had. I mean, any one else remember Transformers? To be fair, making toys of a show isn't a bad thing. I bought so many of DBZ as a kid and LOVED it. Having toys of your favorite show isn't a bad thing, so long as there isn't a decrease in quality for it.

Furthermore, Loop_Stricken, what pony is your avatar?

I noticed in season 2 that the episodes became more... Gritty? Mean-spirited? Just not as slice-of-lifey or well-intentioned like in Season 1.

If Season 1 was the well-adjusted and kind-hearted pony of the group, the season 2 is the neurotic, bi-polar pony.

I attribute this to Lauren Faust not having as much influence as she did in S1.

You're considered a brony if you like MLP and are a male. Age has nothing to do with it.

I think the change in tone is due to dropping the E/I rating.

As I said above, "brony" is a gender-neutral term for anyone outside the target demographic of little girls.

That I did not know.

Brony. A portmanteau of the words ''brother'' and ''pony''. As far as I know, the word ''brother'' can only be ascribed to males of any given bigendered species.

If you enjoyed Season one, odds are you'll love season two, but I don't know what your tastes are, so I suppose the only way to find out is to Watch it. But I think it's really good man o_O

Yes, yes it is, but in season one, the inserts were gentle, unnoticable.

Season two dropped all pretense of being anything more than half hour commercials.

It went from "we have a gala episode, let's sell toys of that" to "we designed this character to sell toys, so let's give her a two part special".
In that case, where the heck is my Iron Will action figure? Or my Cloudsdale playset? Or my freaking airship?
Where is my Chrysalis fleshlight bodypillow?

... don't judge me.

....Well played, sir. Well played indeed!

As an update to this thread, I'm currently at episode seven of this season and I'm still loving it! Just needs more musical numbers and more Rainbow Dash.

Yeah, as others have said, the Season started out a little weaker, then picked up. I remember the Equestria Daily comment threads for each episode being full of "Is this the beginning of the end?!" doom-mongering, before dropping off completely after about episode 9. There's more songs later in the season, and Rainbow gets some brilliant character development in the later episodes Read It And Weep and Hurricane Fluttershy. Just be prepared to grit your teeth for The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well. Why? Let's just say that episode made Feeling Pinkie Keen look well-written with a delicately handled lesson. It was a masterclass in atrocious and ham-fisted writing, with lazy and hypocritical characterisation. The one episode I actually disliked, out of all 52 so far.
