I miss Sega. I've owned a Game Gear (blue casing packed in with the Lion King). I still have my old model 1 Genesis my brothers and I shared in 1989. I have a Saturn as well, which I got for cheap loing after I had gotten my PlayStation. I don't have a Dreamcast, since I wanted a PS2 instead, but I've played it before. I was distraight to hear the Dreamcast had been withdrawn in 2002 only to be replaced by the overpriced (but good) Xbox and the unimpressive GameCube.

What if the hardware division of Sega didn't kick the bucket? What if they released a 7th-gen console? Do you think Nintendo would dominate as much as it did? Would they reduce Microsoft back to an OS software company? Would it have furthered Sony's (relative) misfortune?

What would the system be like? What features would it have? What would they have to do differently from the last two generations in order to succeed?

i wish that Sega didn't fuck up and brought out another console and games because everyone remember they old classic Mario game and that was the best sometimes the oldies are just awesome to play, but i think Microsoft and Sony would still be where they are today if Sega brought out a new console

Sega was always about arcade excellence. Of course there were acceptions with Panzer Dragoon Saga, but overall their best games have been the pick-up and play ones i.e. Sega Rally, JSR, Crazy Taxi, VF, etc.

But apart from maybe DS owners, there really isn't much of a fanbase for arcade/ easy to play games. It's all simulation games promising 60hours of [repetitive] gameplay.

The sales for Sega Rally proved this. That game is absolutely awesome. And yet it failed to make a ripple. So many ripped it apart for apparently being shallow and unrealist (constantly being compared to DiRT).

If Sega did make a console now though, just think of all the games they made since the Dreamcast's death all on the same, single console. To be honest, there aren't many good ones, maybe JSR Future.
