Back in the days before i owned an Xbox 360, I was an avid World at War player on the Wii. One of the things about this version of the game was that about half of the people who played online were absolutely terrible at it. On other versions of the CoD games my k/d is normally about even; here it was ridiculously high. People would return to camp at the same spots no matter how many times you killed them, so if you used some bouncing betties at a spot you had just killed a camper at, you were guaranteed another kill. It was almost eerie...

So camping is a technique used either by people who know nothing about what they are doing, or by people who know way too much about what they are doing. If done wrong, it's an easy kill for you; if done right, it can be quite devastating.

But campers don't piss me off. People who completely ignore the objective in objective game types piss me off.

I'm fine with camping, as far as I am concerned hiding in places where people are likely to pass without seeing you is a perfectly valid strategy (As long as you aren't using hacks or exploiting glitches of course) and if you're good at it I see no reason you shouldn't do it. It's the Spawn Campers that I think need to be castrated. Spawn Camping about as low of a strategy as you can get without resorting to hacks.

Well I don't get mad at campers I just don't understand them how is siting in one place a killing people when they run into your spot fun. I was under the belief that gamer were supposed to be fun who cares if you die you'll come back 30 seconds later. Well whatever works for you guys.

They do find that kind of play fun. That's why they keep doing it.

I am a camper and I love doing it, but within good reason. People hate it because they believe it incorporates no skill whatsoever, well....if people complain about that then snipers shouldnt have even been in the game - what do people expect from a class of specialist soldier that ACTUALLY DOES camp, keeping in mind that their weapon HAS to be reloaded after each shot unless its semi-automatic.

On Battlefield: Bad Company - Sniping is LITERAL sniping, the map sizes allow actual sniping stay true to what sniper/recon actually do. I can snipe from almost one end to the other, and STILL camp and defend/take out the objectives or at least prevent fellow snipers from having dogtags stolen from them.Camping can be abused a slight bit though, due to the absence of kill-cam. Recently I was in one map where the teammates of the opposition kept spawning behind or base with a tank and annoyingly kept spawn camping us when we well.....spawned.

On Call of Duty: I believe isn't actual sniping so to speak but rather urban sniping. I've seen a quick-scoping camper before and he wasn't actually too bad....he camped the area than just one place.

There is a difference between good and bad camping. Good camping I have seen many times and I respect them, these are people who can actually camp AND defend or take objectives. Good campers can snipe from a location that provides a both an attacking and defending position. Like planting charges in Gold Rush, a good camper I saw had thrown a motion sensor into the area and ran off somewhere, then all these enemies came in to disarm it - me and him just ended up sniping them cause the whole building was blown up and we were actually surrounded by a forest. Bad camping is when they do literally nothing and contribute nothing to help the team. Bad-camping is when they would rather sit in one location where a random person would run by, when they could actually do more of the same thing and get more kills for it. Even if it just comprises of killing people - killing people prevents that one person from doing what they wanted. Like in WANTED - Kill one, save a thousand.

Spawn camping is basically the most grievously bitching thing that I would describe to be, what sad, sad players who can't afford to learn how to . But I cannot judge the player by that, I don't know if there is any problem in their lives and they need to vent it out... or if they are simply doing it for to piss of people.

Can't wait to get B:BC2, I've always loved Sniper Elite so I'm going to love adjusting my gameplay from there. But what I hate now is the kill-cam, yes, there is some extent where it would be nice but seriously, on B:BC where there wasn't any kill-cam and everyone could snipe like a real sniper (Unlike Call of Duty) and NOT have their position revealed like some duped up AI who can see a mile away with a target on their head. Even if I have been sniped before, if any of my teammates die in front of me....

WOAH HINT! - Use the physics engine and predict the bullet direction from how my teammate died.

Anyway, have fun!

Camping should only be criticized in "arena-style" shooters like Quake, Halo, and Unreal Tournament, where the action is extremely fast-paced and over-the-top. In more "realistic" shooters like Call of Duty or Battlefield, I see no issues with camping.

Camping is like projectiles in fighting games. Many people complain about it, but neglect to improve their game enough to beat it. Camping isn't "exciting" or so I've heard, yeah well, I say you "dying" in particular isn't exciting- figure out a way to beat the camper or you're going to bore me to tears.
