Most of my bro's are girls anyway. It's hard to find guys willing to, ya know, talk. Which is why my best friend "used to be gay". And there's a story behind that if anyone is interested :p

Females are usually too cautious and unable to leave their intelligence at home to be a 'bro' of the quality you talk about. It takes a very special, fanatically loyal breed of stupid that seems to only belong to the male of the species, that alows one to charge side by side into the brink and stare into that abyss we seem to call ' a good idea at the time'.
That actually made me laugh! Thanks for such an accurate definition of the "bro" term. It shed new light on the whole thing!

If the "Bro Code" only represents the idea of having someone at your side who will do anything to help you, and you would do the same for them, then I see no reason why a girl can't be a bro. I know I have at least one female friend that I have this kind of relationship with.

Not talking about a literal brother here, because obviously they can't. But, in the realms of 'brodom,' a bro is one of those guys who'll do anything for you from being your wingman to helping bury a body. Now, everyone knows that a girl could do those things, but does that actually make them your bro? Or do you think that is illegal according to the bro code?
The "bro code" is a bunch of sexist hypocritical nonsense so naturally girls are excluded by default.

However if what you're asking is if a girl can be your best friend, then the answer is definitely.

My point is for a girl to be your bro, you have to have been friends for so long that you've forgotten she has lady parts.
Or, you already had sex in the past, realized you weren't romantically compatible, and have settled nicely and wonderfully into brohood (or best friend-hood).

Me and my best friend are like that, but judging from the Barney Stinson-context, we're just best friends.

See article 22 of the Bro Code
22) There is no law that prohibits a woman from being a Bro. Women make excellent bros because they can translate and navigate the confusing and contradictory whims that comprise the chick code (Chick do have the chick code!!).
I agree. This reply may seem a little weak so I guess I'll put in a picture that may be related.

actually a term has already been invented to facilitate the acceptance of women into the brohood.

a female bro, is a Hobro, not to be in any way confused with the derogative term "ho"

edit: I did not invent this term

the bro code states that women make some of the best bro's. i have lady bro's so i think they can at least. on the other hand the existance of the bro code should be denyed to all women so go figure

Re-write rule one frome this
1) Bros before hoes. The bond between two men is stronger than that between a man and a woman because on an average, men are stronger than women. That?s just science.

Does that help?

Your over use of "bro" in everything really makes me sick, but yeah, I have a friend that is a girl that is the same as some of my male friends.

Not really, they can be good friend as long as they are unattractive, but guys/girls have different preferences in topics so it can't be the same "bro" like connection, it's also alot easier to relate when you are of the same species.

You see, that's the thing, I don't know what degree of irony people are using when they say that!

Serious answer I guess: Yes, duh, obviously.

I like to think so. Most of my good friends are guys, even though I am by no means a tomboy. Guys are alot easier to get along with than girls, in general. Don't get me wrong, I have girl friends but a majority of my core group would be male.

I've been a wing-(wo)man a couple of times, it's fun and you feel kind of smug when a plan comes together.

The same species?

I've never really got the whole 'bro' thing. If I was about to do something monumentally stupid, I would want the person at my side to be reasonable and strong willed enough to stop me from doing it in the first place.
My best female friend, on the other hand, is a complete head case. She could start a bar fight with a guy twice her size and then moan at me if I tried to point out the flaw in her logic.
She would probably say that I couldn't be her 'bro' because I am too 'girly'.

However, "Yeah brah, girls can be bro's. As long as they're Bi."
I would agree that the ability to check out women is a prerequisite for a 'bro' so being bi or gay is a given. My aforementioned friend will often point out hot girls in the street before I've even noticed them.

So, in conclusion, some girls are better suited to being 'bros' than some guys.

Well, a 'bro' is essentially a friend with whom you have a non-sexual yet exceedingly close and trusting relationship. If you have that kind of relationship with a girl which i know people to have they are in all important respects your 'bro'. Though the the term with it's natural gender connotations imply a certain number of y-chromosomes on the part of the applicant, the question of gender seems irrelevant to the discussion at it's core. In my opinion at least

I am often referred to as "bro" or "dude" by my guy friends. My one friend actually tells me that I'm a guy in every way except anatomically. They use me as their wingman and I do the same. I think it takes a certain kind of girl to be a bro, but I know from experience that it's possible.
