Can a lightsaber cut through adamantium??

Lightsabers can cut through anything. Even katanas and ninjas(although just barely).

Adamantium is completely indestructible. Nothing can destroy it. Sorry but my vote is no.

Except magnets ... Wolverine's adamantined skeleton was sucked and liquified out of his body by Magneto.

Well, since a Lightsaber is more related to light (Duh), yeah, I don't think any physical substance could really block/hinder it even slightly, considering that it's just pure energy, rather than it having a physical form.

If you look in the extended universe, Mandalorian iron can stop a lightsaber blade.

Vibranium is the most durable substance in the Marvel universe, but it's controlled by one country, so scientists had to come up with a substitute: enter Adamantium. The most famous example of pure vibranium would be Captain America's shield, so I'm betting his shield throw would do some damage to Wolverine's skeleton.

Again, now I'm just splitting hairs. For all intents and purposes, Wolverine's skeleton is virtually indestructable.

What the Hulk tore apart was Wolverine's vertebrae, which are not adamantium. None of Wolverine's bones were damaged in that fight. All of our bones are joined by tissue, cartiledge, tendons, etc. That is what the Hulk tore apart.

OP that,s a good question I wouldnt know it but since they managed to mold it in a shape so it can be grafted to wolverines bones I would asume it would cut through it

This is the kind of terrible logic that lead to the Adamantium bullet in Wolverine: Origins. Adamantium was created as an artificial Vibranium, but Adamantium is still indestructible. It is not as if Vibranium is MORE indestructible than Adamantium, that is like saying infinity+1.

Considering the fact that in one of the comic, Thor hammer Mjolnir can only dent Captain America shield (the shield is made of Adamantium and look it up if you don't believe me) using his full force. With this in mind I think at best the lightsaber will only leave a black mark on the adamantium (I don't think it would cut through or maybe cut a bit of it).

Key word being Ultimate, we have no idea if the properties of adamantium are different in alternate universes (things like Galactus and the Cosmic cube are, so why not the more mundane stuff?)

But even so, Hulk could rip wolverine in two without breaking any of the admantium bones, he'd just need to rip the tendons and muscles clean through and pop the bones from their sockets. Your bones aren't fused together.

This is a silly match up. A bunch of superheroes versus a vast empire of billions. Even so I'm loathe to accept that the Imperium would ever defeat the x-men, even if you pulled a completely brilliant surprise attack off, one X-man or woman would manage to travel back in time and warn the teams. It's just how it happens with them.

There's the fact that some X-men have had the power of gods able to devour planets like Dark Phoenix or wield telekinesis strong enough to put space and time in Nate Grey. Or that attacking them involves all earth's heroes, including beings of phenomenal power like Dr Strange or Scarlet Witch. Or that they've got intergalactic allies like Gladiator and Silver Surfer (who could unleash Galactus on their planets).

Even if it's just the last 200 mutants alone, the imperium is going to have a terrible time taking Earth simply because Magneto will crash every piece of metal (e.g. their fleet) together in Space.

According to the way that Lucas writes it (because I'm the kind of nerd that I know too much about this kind of thing) a light saber can cut through anything with the exception of two things. Cortosis (sp?) and another lightsaber blade. There WAS originally a seperate variety of light sabre called the "Dark Saber" that was a black light saber with a different shape to it, that could actually cut through a normal one. But Lucas quickly decided it made the light saber seem less ultimate and so he called it non-canon. .

Except Adamantium doesn't exist in his universe, so we have to play by marvel's rule which is that it's indestructible.

I'm pretty sure that a lightsaber could cut through adamantium light a hot knife through butter. However for the sake of the argument lets pretend for a minute that it can't... it doesn't matter, force lightning would make short work of Wolverine, or mind trick could be used to make him rip himself to shreds with his own claws.

Regardless of how effective a lightsaber would be against adamautium, if Wolverine comes up against a Jedi, he's going down!

So I'm pretty sure the same applies to Adamantium. But until you did cut through it, you have an effective anti-lightsaber weapon/shield to deal with those pesky Jedi with

Not true: I've seen wolverine reduced to his SKELETON, regenerate, and kill the guy who blew him up. The only time he's come close to dying was when he simply gave up after another one of his many, many, many near-death experiences.

You can cook him, you can chop him to itty bitty pieces, he'll still regenerate. The only thing that slowed him down was sheer old age, and by that point (Old Man Logan comic line) he was well over 100 years old, and only looked like he was in his 50's, 60's.

So... Unfortunately, I must inform you the only way to kill Wolverine is to take away his will to live. But actually trying to kill his body? That regeneration factor has to either be shut down, or you have to blast his soul out of existance.

I'm fairly certain there would be another way to damage Adamantium that I'm not sure they've encountered in the Marvel universe yet with Wolverine, something that a Lightsaber could be as well as far as we know: Mono-molecular weaponry. Because that stuff pretty much acts like a lightsaber in the fact that it can cut through virtually anything.

Pretty hard to stop a whip that's only a molecule thick, or prevent a sword with a molecule-wide edge from chopping you into turducken

Well Lightsabers can't cut through everything. There are about a dozen substances in Star Wars canon that are lightsaber proof. I'd say no.

Very well, I'll admit my comments were made without a relatively minimal knowledge of Wolverine, so I apologize for me lack of knowledge in that area, however as a massive Star Wars fan I'm sure he could be defeated by a Jedi.. I'm just not sure of how. I will leave that debate for those with better knowledge of both sides that I have, adieu : )

No, it would just heat it until it is the same temperature as the beam. Adamantium doesn't melt, therefore a lightsaber can't cut it.

However, it's not as though the lightsabre can only cut through things that melt. It's cut through many things that didn't melt, like solid bone.

*sigh* Lightsabers "cut" things by rapidly melting them. Like a plasma-torch, there is no actual blade... Phisics Fail.

Bones don't melt... and light / plasma beams do not stop each-other in their tracks... There is *something* else at work if two lightsabers can block each-other...

I think it would eventually destroy the adamantium, that high energy would probably screw with the metal at an atomic level.

Oh, it's not a problem. I think it would take the Jedi/Sith's mental use of the force to defeat wolverine. He has been brainwashed before, and if anything, I'm fairly certain the mental capabilities would be able to defeat him.

You don't have to kill him to defeat him after all, just have to look at ways that don't involve defeating him physically ~smirks~
