It's miscommunication. Don't call yourself a vegetarian if you aren't, simple as that. Especially if others have to alter plans to account for these preferences. Fish for 4 and 2 vegetarian meals becomes awkward when they all end up wanting fish.poleboy post=18.70671.699129 said:

I understand your sentiment (was actually expecting it) however the food chain concept is really an observation of the transference of energy across various life forms within specific ecosystems. Yes a vegetarian can eat fish.
No, he cannot legitimately call himself a vegitarian after eating the fish (unless s/he never eats animal flesh or reproductive cells again).
As for the other types of veggies-

Vegan: I never will understand you people and will still courteously invite you to barbeques, but don't expect any veggie burgers if you come you hypocrite.

Don't vegetarians not eat animals because its cruel thus the whole "i eat fish thing" is kind of ironic unless you believe fish can't feel pain...
Unless your a vegetarian because you are allergic etc to meat, of which if you can eat fish, go for it!
