Right, okay. I'm at the end of my tether right now, and any help that can be given would be highly appreciated.

Okay, so I bought Batman: Arkham Asylum (retail version). Cool! I can't wait to start beating up goons! Oh..okay. I've got to register Games for Windows - LIVE?
At this point, my heart sinks. Tussling with errors and bugs with Games for Windows - LIVE is not an unprecendented occurance with me; i've had to jump through the hoops for games like Dawn of War II.

Right now i've reached an impasse. The game will load up, ask to sign in Games for Windows - LIVE, I enter in the details, wait...wait..."Cannot connect". Even the standalone GFWL messenger-type bar isn't logging in, citing "Error Code : 80048882".

I've searched the internet for answers, only to find other people with this same problem, but no clear, solid answer. I've opened the ports they require, no luck. I come to you guys now in the hopes that you would be able to shed some light on this situation.

To quote somebody : All I wanted was to play my game, not torture.

Cheers in advance.

Phone Microsoft tech support, and find your recipt. You might end up returning it and buying it on Steam. (Does Steam require this, too?)

Before that, you might consider disabling your Windows firewall, but that sounds like something you'd have already done.

Unfortunatley this is true; Dawn of War II involved logging into Steam and GWFL. I'm going to try tech support tommorow, but these days I really don't have that much time.

You should be able to create an offline profile and play with that. It's not an ideal solution as you won't be able to use downloadable content (not easily anyway.. and if you do find a way please message me with how) but you can play your game. That worked for me at least, hope it helps.
