The romance part was a bit anoying. Maybe because I envy him. The setting was unrealistic. How many guys have a cute girl dedicating her life to save a him?
That was kinda the point of the series:
She wanted to find the most pathetic human being she could to make herself feel better about her own life

Hey, I spoiler tagged it and everything, it's out of my hands ;)

Is suspect it's commentary on this trope in other anime: why does this cute girl just happen to like this hapless loser? Perhaps the real reason is a selfish ulterior motive she has..? But I only read a bit of the manga, so the rate at which the supporting characters are introduced may simply be a pacing issue caused by adaptation.

People seem to have pimped Bebop rather thoroughly for me, so I'll go on into...

Bakemonogatari. If you're in this for the batshit insanity, then this is the perfect anime for you.

XD, Bakemonogatari for the win. I wish the anime delved further into the other chapters of the light novel, but it was still an awesome watch nonetheless.

As usual in these threads I'm going to recommend Welcome to the NHK.
It's my favorite anime. It's about a social recluse who meets a girl that tells him she can cure him and make him normal.
It's a comedy/drama/romance and it is very good.
It's got awesome music too.
The romance part was a bit anoying. Maybe because I envy him. The setting was unrealistic. How many guys have a cute girl dedicating her life to save a him?

I'm rewatching it right now. I would prefer if they'd spend some episodes showing his life before meeting the other characters. I know it would be hard to fill episodes since they do nothing, but still... they could show his thoughts.

Still good, for me is an 8 because form what I remember the last part of the anime was a letdown, if not that would be a 9. Maybe I'll change my mind this second time.
I liked the romance but I agree it was rather unrealistic.
I liked how Misaki's actions were explained in a fairly logical way. The ending was a bit of a let down because all the loose ends were tied up so abruptly. Apparently the novel and the manga don't end there and have better paced endings.

You watched the videos I posted too right? That's packed with that sorta of thing. I also made a part 3, but YouTube removed it :( From memory, the anime I had in the video that would interest you would be:
Requiem from the Darkness
Memories

Yeah, the first one seems to be blocked, though. Stuff from the second one I either already watched, or it's from a genre which doesn't interest me.
Memories is already on my to-watch list and as far as Requiem is concerned I can't say I'm a big fan of episodic horror stories. I'm looking rather for stuff along the lines of Dead Leaves and Mind Game. But thanks anyway :)

Cowboy Bebop! Great anime right there. Some of the dialogue is a little weird though.

@SvenBTB, @deathbydeath and @hinataxemnas, thanks for the Claymore recommendation :)
I'm loving the series so far, it has a lot in common with Vampire Hunter D in that it has a dark fantasy setting and a strong, silent protagonist who is also half a monster; but this with chicks :p
And even though the animation is a little low-budget and repetitive; the awesome battles, and story totally makes up for it all!
So cheers for that, it was spot on :)

@eggy32, @Yopaz, @BristolBerserker, @JasonSantora, @AnoniMus - Are you guys serious!
Welcome to NHK, I watched waaay too many episodes of this crap expecting it to be something amazing after receiving so many recommendations.
I stopped watching after the scene where the main guy goes to a little girls school to shoot erotic pictures of them while hidden in the bushes!?
That was some serious pedo bullshit!
What the frak is wrong with you people, why would you recommend this to ANYONE!
And where in my post have I indicated that this is something I would want to watch.

You're missing the point dude. That's like saying why would you want to watch A Clockwork Orange since it's full of rape and senseless violence. Which ignores the fact that it's important to the story, as it establishes Alex's personality (a gleefully sadistic horrible person), which makes the end of the movie more confronting, since we shouldn't care what happens to him because he's such a vile man, yet we do because of how he's treated.

Likewise with Welcome to the NHK!, Sato's disgusting behavior during the period in which he discovers lolicon is important to the story, as it tells us about his personality. He has an extremely obsessive nature (going from not knowing what lolicon is, to spending all day filling his computer with lolicon images) and a complete lack of what's considered socially acceptable (any scraggly grown man hiding in the bushes outside a school with a camera would obviously be seen as a criminal). And Sato's personality is pretty much the entire reason why he's in the situation he's in, it's not like he comes from a poor family or anything. And since Welcome to the NHK! is semi-autobiographical the point is pretty clear: it's not outside influences that's responsible for your problems, YOU are the problem.

But yeah, some people prefer to watch TV shows with the intent of being entertained, so confronting stuff might turn them off a particular show.

Darker Than Black is really good. So is Casshern Sins, Trigun, and Cowboy Bebop. Oh yeah Hetalia Axis Powers is good (just a bit bizarre).
