I've heard many people talk about the ending. But I've heard it sound as if you can't play the game any further after beating it, which seems stupid to me.

My question is this, if I complete the main quest, can I still wander the Capitol Wasteland?

Also, in Oasis, if I had STRENGTHENED the growth, would it really spread throughout the Wasteland or would it still be.......blah? (trying to be vague to avoid spoilers)

Yeah, just finished the main quest today, though had the foresight to save before i started the last quest...The ending isn't horrible, but it is indeed rather subpar...

On its own it's sub-par, but hold the game up to it's predecessors, which had superb endings, and it's even more disappointing.

As has been said, no you cannot continue beyond the end of the game's main quest line, but I seem to recall there being rumours of the DLC changing that, along with adding the new content. Maybe it'll get patched in.

Yeah, the Broken steel DLC makes that crap-tastic ending non-cannon.(At least that is whats going around on the rumor mill.)

A friend of mine down loaded a mod that allowed him to play after the main story, provided he didn't sacrifice himself. I myself don't have it on the computer, but on the 360, yes the Strengthened potion will speed up the growth, but it would take 10 years in game for that to happen. Which means it won't happen in game.

That's why you should create a new save game (if you can...) and use it for sandboxing. Unlike GTA, you don't have to unlock locations.

The Only thing that spoiled the ending for me
The fact that even though I had a radiation proof best buddy he refused to enter the room and made me do it. He went from trying everything he can to re-pay the debt of my saving his life to saying " your on your own here"

Just made the ending look really tacked on.

Hopefully broken steel will have an actual final boss, I'm leaning towards a collosal electric eel waking up in the river.

Just wait until you need to speak with Elder Lyons at the Citadel as your objective, do everything you want to do, then start the final quest. At least, that's what I did.
Actually you can continue playing right up until entering the final room.

What really annoyed me was the fact that

Either you are forced to sacrifice yourself in a blaze of glory and pure goodness that immortalizes yourself as a wonderful do-gooder, or you refuse to throw away your life and the ending depicts you as a heartless scumbag that kicks puppies. It's just way too black-and-white for me, and the fact that even if you DO choose the heartless scumbag ending, you can't continue the game, which really annoys me.

Don't play that stupid game, it's a waste of time.
You raise such strong and witty arguments sir.

The best ending is when you put the contaminant into the water station and then run off and make Lyons do it. Be the ultimate arsehole you can be!

I'd like to see how you actually continue through the ending. Maybe some strange plot twist or something.

I was thinking the exact same thing, multiple endings my ass! There's one ending with a handful of variations. Sort of like taking a dump, it can come out either way but it's always the same shit. Excuse the vile metaphor but in this case I think it's valid. Talking shit about 200 different endings and all
