I want to try EVE but it's vicious difficulty curve looks really challenging.

Usually my awesome skill at everything and my desire to prove people wrong would be enough but sadly I'm 13 and most of you probably have dreams of strangling people of my age through our screens and don't take us seriously. That would be a probably a bad for me because EVE is run by mostly adults and older teens. The worst part is I've never heard of 13 and 12 year olds plying EVE so I can't even join them. So I'm probably doomed to roam the cosmos running from the small army of players that want to rip my face off.

Hopefully if I survive long enough I can get stuff to defend myself though.

Sure you can, as long as you keep at it and learn from people you should have no problem playing EVE.
and once you get set in, as long as your not a little dipshit (you know EXACTLY what im talking about ;D) nobody should mind that your 13

That's a hard thing to say for sure. Id say try the free play period and judge it yourself. Even if your 13, you'll still find people willing to take you into their group if your willing to follow directions and possibly get killed a whole lot. (Newbies usually fill the meat shield role...)

well there is that new thing to help n00bs that you could try and then it really depends on how much you use voice chat and how high pitch your voice is because if you have a deepish voice then no one will know you are twelve

Open up excel.
Populate it with numbers (can be anything).
Now change the numbers arbitrarily.

Is this fun?
YES! - Go for EVE you will enjoy it, if you hit hard times you can go back to playing single player EVE (excel)

NO! - Go to any other Game on the internet.

Whats excel?(!) - Go back to playing xbox please, who let you on a forum?

Try the free trial, but keep your expectations low. When I played it, I was excited to fly a starship, destroy pirates, plot warp courses, fleet battles, etc.

In game, though, it can be difficult to find gear that you're looking for nearby, and if you venture into Low Security space, be prepared to have your ship absolutely vaporized by someone camping a starport exit. Also, don't plan on any manual control. Or fleet battles for a good while. And be prepared to stare at the ass end of an ugly spaceship (my opinion, at least) for hours on end.

In my opinion, give Star Trek Online a try. There's manual flight, better combat, and leveling isn't as frustrating.

EVE Online is not really a hard game to learn, it's just a bit unintuitive. Pay attention to the tutorials and you'll do fine. Pro tip: go through all the tutorials, a few of them give you free skill books.

I found EVE Online to be pretty good, until I tried out everything and got to fly the ship I wanted to fly. After that I almost instantly lost all interest. In fairness, that happens with every game I play, so I wouldn't too hard on EVE because of it.

Play the trial.

If you like it play it proper, and anything you don't understand then ask players/google.
It's not a difficult game to learn, there's just a lot of it.
Learn Learning skills early, do all tutorials, use the certificate planner if you're ever in doubt as to what you should learn next and never stop training!
This is the best advice I can give to any new EVE player.
Personally it bored me, but each to their own...

Anyone can handle it- there is no requisite age or intellect, you must simply be willing to devote time and patience. I played it for a while, and it certainly was confusing- try just making a living as a miner in a safe region for a while, just to get used to game mechanics.

Also, ask questions in the appropriate chat- there is ALWAYS a group of people answering questions. Sometimes you'll receive some sickly derision, sure, but don't let it bother you.

I'm a 4 year veteran of Eve Online and honestly it's a lot less daunting than it looks. The important thing to remember is that patience is a virtue in Eve. Take your time, right click on anything that looks like a button (no really), and you'll be alright.
