i have a 2005 Dell XPS 400 with a Pentium D and it has windows XP.

Dont tell me to get a new computer, i dont have the money. i have not added anything to this computer. i just want to know if i buy the games will i be able to play them.

Edit: if you could, could you tell me the requirements? if not, then nevermind.

Edit: thanks everyone, BTW where is this GOG website and how trustworthy is it?

Oh most likely, I could run these on my ancient machine when I lived at my parents place (I've been away from there for 5 years)

Yeah, you might need to fiddle about with compatability modes and suchlike but they run on my vista machine with no problems and ran on my old XP machine with a bit of jiggery pokery so you should be fine.

Probably, it worked on my XP and with some tweaking Vista. It is far more likely your computer is too good to run it than not good enough.

If your machine runs XP, there should be no issues. Just run in the compatability mode for the versions specified in the game requirements :D

If you can turn on your machine, yes... otherwise you're shit out of luck.

This computer is so far above the recommended requirements of Fallout 1 and 2 that it would take an electrical short to stop them from working.

He's asking if Fallout 1/2 are too old to be played on his system, and it's a well grounded thought - lots of old games don't work on newer systems. Heavy DOS programs don't run that well on newer OS's.

The truth of the matter is - they still sell Fallout 1/2 online, so they will have versions compatible with newer operating systems

You'll have no problems. Worked for me an pretty much the same system with no tweaking at all.

You're fine as far as system requirements are concerned. Most if not all of your hardware probably didn't even exist yet when Fallouts 1 and 2 came out. As long as you put the games in compatibility mode for an older version of windows, it should work fine. If not, there are tons of guides to getting the old Fallout games to run on XP and Vista. (Or you could buy them off of GOG.com for $6 each, and have it already tweaked to work on Vista, with no DRM)

With such comments as "Dont tell me to get a new computer, i dont have the money." and "if you could, could you tell me the requirements?" gave me the impression that he was genuinely concerned that his PC wasn't powerful enough to run it.

Sorry, by bad.

If you are getting them from GOG.com they should run fine. They were originally made to run on 400Mhz systems so basically anything made in the past 8 years can run them.

The stock versions of the game can have some major compatibility problems that can make the game frustrating to play, the versions from GOG have been patched to run fine under xp/vista plus the gog version has been striped of all DRM
