Yeah, most newish computers can. Although it may have to be on quite low settings due to the graphics card...

Or even try to rid of your virus? AVG Free + Spybot Search & Destroy could do some good.

Find TF2 in the drop down box

EDIT: It runs a program to determine if you can run it, you don't have to lift a finger :p

Or

System Requirements

Minimum: 1.7 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX® 8.1 level Graphics Card (Requires support for SSE), Windows® Vista/XP/2000, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

Recommended: Pentium 4 processor (3.0GHz, or better), 1GB RAM, DirectX® 9 level Graphics Card, Windows® Vista/XP/2000, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

There is a site by the exact same name as this thread that will tell you if you can or cannot run it.

It's that easy.

Also, RAM is cheap as dirt, any computer used for gaming should preferably have at least 2 GB.

Wait you can afford a GTX 260 and not a huge hard drive?

Just check the game's specs on Steam, if you really need to know. TF2 runs on most anything.

SystemRequirementsLab can be useful sometimes, but it's prone to getting things wrong. I checked it to see if my PC can play BioShock 2, and it says I barely pass the minimum requirements. I've been playing it with graphics maxed without a single hiccup.

That graphics chip won't be able to handle TF2. You're best off formatting the hard drive of your old computer and reinstalling Windows on it.

Well my old 8800 GTS blew out on me, so I though I would future proof myself and splash out. I have a 250 gb hard drive with plenty of crap on I never use, so if I run out it means its time for spring cleaning. Just last week I removed 20 gb of install files I didn't even know I had

Kaspersky labs also has a free rescue boot disk that will scan your system from Linux. It's saved a number of machines I've had to work on.
