If anybody happens to have a 2009 copy of Guinness Book of Records I would really appreciate it if you could look up and tell me the longest time spent without sleeping. Guinness's site blows for finding a specific record. I haven't slept in 6 days I think the record is 11. I'm wondering if I should be recording my insomnia or something cause if my guess is right Im on the downslide at this point.

EDIT: I've been googling the hell out of it and I'm getting varied answers. I'd like the on the paper official record if anybody has it handy. You can get back to me tomorrow or whatever. I've got time.

EDIT: Your concern for my health is touching and all but don't worry about it I live with two other people. If I seriously start to go south they'll call an ambulance or something.

EDIT: I'm sooo not doing this voluntarily. If I could sleep for 24 hours I would. I would sleep the hell out it. I'm physically incapable of sleeping right now.

EDIT: Sorry for all the false hope on this one. I'm remembering that I'm disqualified from having this record because of a wonderful psychological quirk that gives me an unfair advantage. It took me a while to remember that wonderfully rude letter Guinness sent me when I tried this when I was 12. You have to do it intentionally since I'm physically incapable of sleeping during these episodes without medical aid no record for me.

EDIT: Thanks for getting me the record information though. I might not ever be official but I'm still gonna be number one dammmit.

Uh, I'd go see a doctor or something seeing as how sleep-deprivation that severe can literally KILL YOU.

EDIT:
Also, according to Wikipedia (Which is always 100-percent correct and never lies.) this guy [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Gardner_%28record_holder%29] holds the current record.

You should sleep. If you keep going you could die. Just sayin'. Also, if you have not started hallucinating yet, you will. Be ready for it.

I don't know the official record, but I believe the record is 11 or 12 days.

18 days, 21 hours, 40 minutes. Problems ensue as the longer the time goes, such as hallucinations, memory/concentration lapse, etc.

That is a while but you have to remember that scientists have done many many studies on sleep deprivation, so Im guessing the record will be pretty hard to beat.

I would also recommend seeing a doctor.

Maybe you should be considering your health before you drop dead.

I'm having some concentration lapses. I've done ten without hallucinations though before.

Yeah...Definitely get some sleep, you don't want to die, and if you do, then grab a case of red bull and let me know how it goes, never heard of someone staying awake to death

Fuck if that true I only have like 96 more hours before I'm the record holder.

EDIT: Gardner is also weak. I didn't know the record was only 264 hours. I've done damn close to that before without any hallucinations. He beat the last record by 4 hours... I think I could do at least 10 more.

Meh. I've survived worse than this. Not just insomnia like physical injury/sickness.

Don't need it. I couldn't sleep now if i tried. Sunday night after freaknik was on I logged off the escapist for a while and rested in the dark. Didn't fall asleep. Watched the clock the whole time. Could give you a list of every sound that happened in the apartment for those three hours.

If you're going for the record I think you should prepare in advance, not just decide to because you stayed up a few nights.

What's the reason you can't sleep? And do you have enough to last the rest of the days without feeling shit?

er... dont push it man. like if you beat it great, but you dont need to obliterate it.
if someone beats that new one you made, just beat it again.
oh and tell me what it was like. Ill be a witness if you want :D

I'm going to have to chalk this up to a practice run. If I can hit 260 I'm going to seriously find a way to sleep for a day or so. Gear up and make sure everything is legitimate. You have to notify Guinness, either get witnesses to go in shifts or set up a 24/7 video. I'm just going to test it this time obliterate it next time.
