I'm going to be extremely shallow here, if I were to be asked in a more serious setting I'd be more rational about it, but this is my simple emotional reaction:

It's disgusting. I despise how it robs the female form of it's seductive authenticity. I hate how it undervalues the sexiness of a genuine smile and shows us tits instead. I detest how showing as much skin as possible is implied to be more arousing then genuinely alluring outfits. I dislike the suggestion that this artificial mass media figure is more enticing then other women.

As I said, pretty shallow. I realize that the 'babes' themselves are real women too, but this still is my initial reaction.

I disagree, The Saboteur Midnight Show.
I got that game second hand...so what exactally IS the midnight show?

anyway I supose I shouldnt think too much about a game thats opening shot is a pair of almost bare tits...its acutally kind of funny early on in the game when the charachters are captured/tortued by the natzis Im almost thinking

"hold on this is a Natzi base....whats that stripper doing there?...oh shes suposed to actually be a REAL natzi officer..could have fooled me"

and that english chick too....she would be arrested for showing that much cleavige (mabye just for wearing pants too)

Every marketing thing uses pretty girls to sell, so it's the standard application of a working formula.

Yes it's abuse of peoples desires but hey that is what marketing is all about, any cheap trick to get you into peoples wallets will and must be used.

Boobies get attention. Fact. You can't help but look, even if the woman attached to them is a bit ropey. It doesn't bother me, it's a ploy that works. If they were marketing something at women and used a hot guy in a costume to catch my interest, that would probably work too.

If there is no reason to have them[footnote]Cosplay cafés is a great example of this[/footnote], then I just find it tacky and offsetting.

Nerds. Closest that many of them will come to a scantily-clad woman. Good for promotional purposes, and I guess it makes 'em happy. Which is nice.
It does, however, ignore the fact that some nerds are women - the only thing this gamer needs to do to see a scantily-clad woman is take off her own clothes.

Do I have a problem with it? No, not really - the women are being paid, nobody's breaking any laws. Do I think it helps discourage women from becoming involved in games and the gaming industry and community - yes, actually I do think it does. It helps tell women who are interested in games as clearly as anything possibly could that they are not the target audience.

EDIT: *derp* quote

OT: As most people have mentioned, bewbies = eyes this way, suckers

Personally, I don't pay much attention to them as it is generally and highly unlikely that you could have a conversation with them about the game they're advertising. Having said that, they're there for marketing purposes and fulfil said purpose. Therefore, I neither hate them, nor like them.

thats the ONLY problem I would have with...I havnt been to any conventions of the sort but I would find it a little off putting

but then again the "male-ness" of gaming in general doesnt bother me (was a little unsure when I started) so this kind of stuff doesnt make me want to quit

but I do feel it kind of re-enforced a negative sterytype...then again its the same withcars and such

so yeah I agree mbaye its not worth banning

I was reading though that thinking you'd somehow got the Nazi works at the Doppelsieg factory (the torture bit) confused with the Nightclub somehow, but then it all clicked. Sorry I was so slow on the uptake there.

As for the English chick- some might say she should be arrested for that cleavage. Personally I reckon SOE should give her a medal for using it so effectively in the field!

EDIT: Aw nuts... I should have been more careful about doing something good for my 1000th post. Oh well, too late now.

I actually had a very nice conversation with a booth babe at E3 a couple of years ago. She worked at the Nintendo booth and we basically talked about everything but games, not even sure how I got into a conversation with her... She probably was just happy to have a normal talk without being drooled all over.

But yeah, pretty girls attract attention. That's the whole reasoning behind it.

No problem with it at all. It's a harmless marketing strategy.

As for the whole "equality" aspect of there usually not being any "booth studs", that is a moot point, for this is a system in service of the single and simple goal of "profit": A most relevant and appropriate parameter to differentiate on for a commercial business. The reason these "babes" are here is because that stunt helps turn a profit, and the instant "booth studs" could bring in a similar profit, they'd be right there too.

If her slut costume is elaborate and confusing enough though it'll definitely spark your interest.
You know, by calling it a "slut" costume is slut shamming, which is a part of why many women decide to act in a way that a lot of you guys may not find so attractive (Ie, slutty) So stop shooting yourselves in your collective foots guys, you're harming you chances at receiving any sort of attention from the funner females out there. Not to mention lowering the chances of seeing more booth babes as well.

Now, on to the original topic. I think it's funny/sad that many of the people posting here seem to assume that it's totally beyond their mental capability to ignore these booth babes. I'm a woman, who likes women. (and men, and anyone in between or outside that binary) But I'm not some mouth-breather who can't avoid gawking at someone or allowing something so shallow to sway my attention to a game.

Also, considering that over 42% of gamers are female, and that some of the male gamers aren't straight, where's the male booth babes? Heck, I'm pretty sure even some of the straight guys wouldn't mind seeing a real life Kratos... Wait, when did this become about different sexes and sexual orientation? Ohhhh right, when all the 16-25 straight male gamers assume that the world caters to them only...

Hate booth bates. There is a vid on youtube of some chicks trying to remove a mag from an airsoft replica without releasing the mag catch.

There is no point in hiring people who can't even understand the basic functions of the product presented. Much like religious TV channels.
