Can Valve count to 3?

Half life 3 is still nowhere in sight but I still have not lost hope but seem to think that Gabe Newell is just going to keep pumping new hats for TF2 till he retires. So what do you people think? Do you think that good things come to those who wait or does Valve need to pay a visit to the count from seasamey street?

Portal 3? Well I really don't see what it would be about. Everyone's kinda set now.

Left 4 Dead 3? Well it better have better characters than L4D2. I could never love Coach like I did Francis.

We won't see HL3 for a while, we don't need another left 4 dead, portal 2 just came out, and team fortress 2 is constantly updated with more stuff.

If valve were gonna say anything about hl3 they would have done so at e3 where they could have gotten the most press and excitement. Don't expect anything on hl3 till next e3 or sometime next year.

I don't care. Whether Valve makes this game or not has little impact on my life overall. If they make it, gravy, if not, then too bad. I'm not going to put much though into it right now since there is no mention of any new developments. If Valve publishes a story talking about it then hooray I'll start to care, but for now I'm just going to continue my life.

Everytime that game is mentioned on an online forum, they put it back a month. It's probably going to be released in the year 3000...

I wouldn't mind seeing another Left 4 Dead game XD

People in my "generation" (sorry, had to quotation it I really hate being put into a generation ... it makes me feel old) had to wait 14 years for Duke Nukem Forever and 11 years for Deus Ex.

About time more people had to wait a decade for a game, then you'll share our pain.

Except for Half Life the Valve lineup doesn't lend itself to sequels.

L4D was a one off, L4D2 is only some spit and polish on the original idea, plus the L4D team moved on to other companies.
TF2 is a polished little gem that needs no sequels, they just need to go with a new idea.
Portal 2 concluded that story, it really didn't stay open for more.

I say make Ep3 / HL3 to conclude that story and then go pick up new ideas, it's time to move on people.

But, seriously, I've kind of given up on the whole Half-Life thing. I'm sure it will happen, but I have so many games on the back burner at this point that I have myself more than enough catching up to do.

Try making a game as good as portal or half-life. I dare you! Do you know how hard it is? No, of course not. Good things take time. I don't know why your whining, look at this years releases, hell Portal 2 came out. And your complaining is making things worse. Gabe Newell has to read your e-mails, instead of helping devlop the games. Valve has confirmed HL2E3 is coming, just play something else in the mean time.

I don't like waiting either, but keep in mind that Valve is a small studio. Since Episode 2 came out around four years ago, Valve have released Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, and all that DLC for TF2, and I think we can agree that those were good games.

I am in agreement with the theory that Valve have abandoned episodic development because it still takes a lot of time and resources to make their games, and they prefer their larger projects. I expect Half Life 3 to come out in a year... or two... or when it's done, but in the end, we will probably agree that it will be a much more satisfying conclusion to the series than another five or six hour game.
