Nope, well I hope my survival instinct kicked in and help me defend myself a little.

I can hold my own pretty well, I think. I'm physically pretty fit and mentally there as well. I'm a 21 year old with no real physical issues or impairments with a natural Greek-like stature.

I'm not tall, but I'm no small fry and have been weight-lifting the past few months.

However, I doubt that it would come to that, since I don't even live in a shady area.

UFC (and I say that knowing full well they are MMA fighters but UFC has some of the best in the world, which is why I chose it) fighters would have immense trouble fighting 5 at the same time.

All they have to do is have 1 brave/cocky douche and they could win, the cocky guy gets taken out almost instantly with 1 punch and the rest just have to swarm.

Best tactic is always to run in that situation.

It's like that old joke, wouldn't it be a ***** to try and steal Paula Radcliffe handbag? You would never out run her!

In a 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 situation is far more likely than 1 on 5. I doubt I could win a 1-1 though.

No stamina, no training of any kind, barely any strength ... my only advantage is I am quite friendly with pain ... so I could give one of them a sore toe from the kicking they would give me.

EDIT: I think if a person seriously thinks they can take 5 guys, they have either never been in a fight and watched too much anime or are severely over estimating themselves and under estimating what 10 fists and 10 feet can do.

I'm a dangerous animal to corner. I would comply and do everything i can to avoid violence, even go through some humiliation, but if there really is no choice, then big mistake pal.

Ive taken on groups of 3 ppl at once more then once :) Its funny how a group looks less tough when you broke the arm of the guy who was talking crap the most and guy is wailing and writhing on the floor.

Did some martial arts (shorinji kenpo, jiu jutsu) but biggest asset is due to having retina thinning (a good enough blow to the head can basically make me permanently blind) there is no such thing as a "small" fight for me so once the adrenaline kicks in i become a lunatic, and i find a lot of time when it comes to street fights in cities, it is the craziest who wins in the end.

Done, multiple times. You'd be amazed how being absolutely fucking crazy tends to frighten small groups who think they had an easy target.

I've never had to seriously fight someone, so I don't know.

Though I doubt it, seeing as I can't even push a door open with my right hand right now, much less hitting someone with it.

Against 5 guys, I'll go for the run for it option.
1 guy I could handle but I'll fight as dirty as possible.
Only been in one unavoidable fight where a dude picked me to clobber because he spilled his drink.
A kick to the balls ended that soon enough.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little *****? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.

OT: I could probably handle one guy unless the fight goes to the ground. If I can land my rib crushing body kick that shakes the ring to its very foundation, I could drop the average unsuspecting thug/grandmother in no time at all. But I haven't had the time to develop any grappling skills, so please don't tackle me guys, kay?

Yes. The answer to this (and most questions in life) is Guns.
I carry a Glock 30 with 31 rounds on my person. If surrounded, that would insufficient I think should they press their attack from close range. Should they press the attack from a single direction without pausing to consider the relatively large chunks of lead thrown their way, I could reasonably expect to halt perhaps two of them before being overwhelmed.

So, given the odds of five to 1, if I could not employ my weapon to achieve a quick exit to the scenario, I don't think there is a possibility of exit.

Not many people can defend against five guys.

I've had a few years of training in to-shin-do. I would describe it as the ultimate self-defense skillset. While there is a lot of serious talk about using restraint, and escaping as quickly as possible, there are no rules, no point system, no notion of fair play in the techniques themselves. Groin kicks, eye gouges, throat strikes, joint locks/breaks.... whatever the situation calls for, that's what you do. If you've studied any other art, you're missing out.

If I had 10+ years of training, I would be confident to handle most people one-on-one. Since I've only had 2 years of training, I would probably try to run away, then get caught and get royally stomped.

is there anything you guys do that would give you an advantage in that kind of Situation?
Scream. Also run.

I'm a small woman and my only martial arts training is classical fencing... which I'm not even very good at, because I only took those classes to flirt with someone.

I used to carry a rape whistle, so if I had that, I'd use it.

Remember: When being assaulted, noise is your friend. People calling 911 (or local equivalent) is your friend. Get noticed.

Ahem.

Well, remember - once you draw the gun, you may be able to talk/intimidate your way out of things. If they showed up for a fist fight, and you've got a gun, that's a very good reason for them to walk away.

I'm taller than the average guy, stronger then the average guy and heavier then the average guy, also did kickboxing for 6 years.

Two to three... I'll have a good chance.

Four or five is probably not gonna work out too well though.

Well I'm rather tall and beefy, also have been in more then a few physical quarrels.
And quite honestly in that situation run... run like hell, if need be tackle the one blocking your escape route and then leg it.

Physical encounters should always be your last possible resort, because it is incredibly dangerous as we get primal and stupid, if people get frustrated you may very well see stones/bats/knives/guns come into it which could very well mean the end of your or someone elses life.
For those who think guns are the solution... not even close, you just bump the stupid to it's extreme from the start, then you changed it from a possible life threating situation to an absolute, and no this is not a silly game where you kill by the billions for amusement, if a real persons life ends from your actions it will eat away at you for as long as you live.

The magic of big groups is quite simple :
They cannot all attack you at once, if they try they will leave vital openings.
If I may presume you're trained in any martial art that deals with counters you can turn your opponents against each other.

The things I would suggest would be to never leave your back thoroughly exposed and to taunt your opponents to make them lose focus.

5 on 1 is usually a better situation than 3 on 1 if you can hold your own

The reason for this is simply the confusion.

If they are unarmed and you are unarmed you can still win that fight.

I think we can all agree that Bruce Lee is the most accomplished martial artist and professional fighter known to man. arguably one of the most fit human beings ever to have lived as well.

he once famously said he would never willingly engage in a fight with a 300 pound drunken sailor, because as fit and skilled as he was, he was still 5'4" tall and 135 pounds. witht hat much mass behind him said sailor would only need to hit Master Lee once.

About the whole "leave themselves open"... I get that there will be confusion when 5 guys all try to beat up just one, but if all 5 come at you and even if you take advantage of the confusion, wouldn't you just strike 2 or 3 before the others manage to hit you (since you're probably focused on hitting the others)?

I'm not the strongest guy but I know human weak points and if I needed to fight someone I wouldn't be afraid to hit them in the throat so they can't get enough air to fight. Also I have a way with words so I would try to diffuse the situation (not necessarily make peace) at any cost before fighting.
