Can you function with only a few hours sleep a night?

0-12 Hours per day, depending on the Sleep Schedule and/or what work needs to be done.

I literally once went on ahead for an entire week without sleep...characters in games won't make themselves, and I'm pretty sure gamers don't like seeing a Sphere be their main character, unless the game specifically asks for it.

I aim for 6 a night. When I'm sleeping right, I usually get around 7.

Some nights, I won't sleep at all, or only get 3 hours. 3 is about the minimum I need to function "properly" though.

And that article you read is likely talking about "<url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphasic_sleep>Polyphasic sleep".
thanks!

It is possible, although its hell getting to that point.

Insomnia can be caused by plenty of things, from caffine, to strong emotions, to hunger, and plenty of other things.
well if I do get insomnia I supose I could just start going to group therapy sessions for people with terminal illnesses

and then I could start a fight club.. I wonder if an all girls fight club would take off?

and then once my terrorist organisation blows up a few building.....

I get 6-7 hours of sleep during the week and I've rarely not been tired throughout the day. To answer the title, yes but not very well.

On weekends I get 7-9 hours and mostly always feel rested.

Yes but only for a while. Usually can run 4-5 days running on 2 hours sleep a night, but will need atleast one good sleep to offset the balance. And no I don't recommend it, infact quite the opposite.

Even with a minimal amount of sleep I can still function properly for a normal day, but I probably won't like it nearing the end of that day. I especially won't like it if such a pattern has to repeat more than twice.

your body will self medicate to cover short term sleep loss. You however are not functioning as well as you think if you are sleep deprived, just like people who think they are "ok to drive drunk" are not.
Thank God for weekends.

I average at about 5 hours every night. During the week, I usually get about 3 hours. I don't need much to function. Last exam week, I was awake for 3 days straight followed by only 3 hours of sleep at night for the next 4 nights. That was an interesting experience (mostly because I was being tested and writing papers during this bout of no sleep).

Well, if anything, it'll probably be totally hot. I love it when a woman can kick my ass.

What?

2-6 hours of sleep at night on a weekday but I often rest during the day for an hour or two aand I sleep in a lot over the weekend like 8-10 hours, anyway my mental stability is perfectly fine... actually scratch that get proper sleep or you'll end up worrying that you have every mental disorder known to man.

Hi there,
that depends on the application of sleeping style,
you could get through the day(24h) with about 90 Min of sleep, Power sleeping,
15 Min every 4 h, but it is bad for your health(not really good in longer-term)
normal you should get between 4-8 h of sleep a day preferably 6h but not more then 10, because its proven that the longer you sleep, the faster you die.

In general I aim for nine hours a night. Because of college I don't usually get that much, but I tend to make up for it with up to ten hours on the weekends.

I can get by with minimal sleep for maybe four or five days at most, provided that I don't have to think or work to hard. If I do need to work, maybe two or three with slightly more sleep. After that point, I start falling asleep while at sitting down, or and after that if I'm really sleep deprived, while leaning against stuff. I usually opt for 7 hours a night, if i'm on vacation though, it will vary between 2 or 3 to 12 or more.

I like to get 8 but can sleep for 12 or more depending on if anything wakes me up. Looks like I'm going to die really early then. Smoking, drinking, overweight and sleep too long, will I make it to 30? probably not.

Anyway, I can "function" on less sleep, I have in the past gone to work on less than 4 hours, but I find I'm less tired if I just stay awake those extra 4 hours and go for 24+ straight. The problem is, I'm not nice to be around when I have had less than say, 6 hours sleep, after a couple of days. I'm usually a nice enough guy who can smile and nod his way through the daily bullshit people talk, but when tired I snap really easily, often calling people out on things in quite a hurtful way that I'd usually let slide. That and I end up shouting at retarded things on the tv. Perhaps it's dormant anger issues coming to the surface easier, I dunno.
