Can you suggest a hack and slasher, but with a difference?

So I was in Gamestop and saw Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3. These kind of games have always interested me, ever since I half finished Ninety Nine Nights. I am looking for another, it does not matter if it is in feudal Japan, or in Outer Space. However, the two things it has to have is, 1) run on the Xbox360, and 2) have character customization. So, can anyone suggest a game for me. Thanks.

EDIT: I am calling them hack and slasher's because I looked them up on wiki, and calling them "tactical action video game's" doesn't really sound right. I meant games like the Dynasty Warriors series and such.

Hack and Slash?

In all seriousness, I find Dead Rising to be akin to what you need.

Ninety-Nine Nights 2 came out a while back. It doesn't have full customization but you can unlock different outfits and color schemes for each character. It wasn't great but if you liked the first one you might want to check it out.

Bayonetta, or maybe Nier if you can handle a few rpg elements with your action. You customize weapons and magic (what your character does) rather than appearance and individual stats.

Dynasty Warriors 7 was a good suggestion if that's shaping up to be the right series for you.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3 doesn't have customisation but tries to add minor PRGing due to you being able to get plans for mobile suits then pay money to build them, and even build on you already have but with different stats. But it is annoying.

Also, DW:Gundam 3 seems like it has more repition, since all mission seem the same this time, not just random different kinds, but all seemingly the same, not even the facade of variation. And the presentation for a lot of the game isn't very good since there's the smallest amount of cutscenes ever, and you'll have to see them from multiple points of view during playing the game. (Even the opening cut scene is fairly boring) History missions don't seem any different except the slightly specific choice of mobile suits, because of the small amount of cutscenes thing and that they're just lumped in with the rest of the missions as a new section. Also the story missions that don't require being specific will always be random, thus destroying any kind of uniqueness they could've added.

Even though they streamlined the characters this time and have new series, the presentation of the galleries seems boring and crowded. Also, you don't start with a decent slection of main characters, instead you start one chain of story as certain characters and unlock them from there. This specifically annoys me because I can't instantly play as Heero right away. But I have unlocked Duo, and whilst his Deathscythe Hell does have the ability to turn invisible if you hold down your charge attack button at the end of a combo, it just doesn't feel that great. Also mobile suits based around ranged attack like Heavyarms must suffer immediate problems, due to the way the game is set up (However I have not unlocked this suit yet).

In other words, I prefer the second one. But it still isn't what you're looking for.

EDIT: Other complaints. Licenses are simply bought after becoming ultimate friends with someone, instead of earning it. Skills are bought too instead of randomly being handed out based on mobile suit. I don't like this reliance on money.

I don't know if it is 360 compatible but:

Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes is the best customizable hack n' slasher I have played. Crusaders wasn't bad either. Do NOT get KoF:Circle of Doom though as it is not a hack n' slasher if that is what you are looking for. They are saying that Phantagram are working on KoF 3 as well.
