What's the difference between America and Canada anyway? from what I can tell Canadians can speak French and seem a bit more sensible then Americans don't see much difference past that though

We're not fellow Canadians, we're just people who hang out in the same place. Like a bunch of disorganized roommates.
no we're just not as in your face patriotic as the Americans we are. i know lots of very patriotic Canadians. we're just more laid back about it, probly due to all the pot and beer we smoke and drink

The guys out west pay the bills and think everybody else is just slacking off.
ummm Alberta MIGHT but Ontario was the one who pulled Canada out of the recession and has carried it on it's back a lot. mostly the west can't count, they don't realize that Alberta is the population of Toronto, i won't even mentioned the stoned out hippies in BC

Quebec gets none of the respect it rightly deserves, so it throws a hissy fit every few months. Except for Montreal which is a chainsmoking womanizer.
yeah they do whine a lot

The East desperately wants to call for pizza and and turn up the heat but no one is listening. And Toronto is a gay accountant.
it's not they don't listen it's that the east is so small population wise, the city i live in has more ppl in it than all of pei

as for Toronto, well it's got far better taste in movies than BC ever will and George Romero lives there now

don't confuse our lack of shoving it down your throat patriotism for us not being patriotic

Manitoba is the guy who randomly shows up at occasions, and everyone has a general sense of either pity or animosity towards, both without much reason. The kind of guy you go up to, shove a beer in his hand, slap him on the back and say, "Drink up you poor bastard" then walk away, never to talk to them for the remainder of the night.

I think we're already pretty unified as is, sure we have our problems, disagreements and stereotypes but at the end of the day we are willing to help each other out, we care about the country as a whole, we are willing to put all our differences aside to get along as fellow countrymen and, most importantly we are untied and proud enough to stand up and say, without hesitation, sarcasm or doubt "I AM CANADIAN, we are Canadian! Here we stand, the true north strong and free. Oh Canada."

You want Canadian pride? (It's ON).

-I love this country.
-I love Hockey (but don't got a favourite team),
-I love the fact I learn TWO language,
-I love Rush,
-I love poutine.
-I like Quebec on the cultural level and on the political level (Because if they weren't here, politics in Canada would be boring).
-I love our women.
-I love our flag.
-I love the beaver.
-I like the forests.
-I love our comedians.
-I love our actors.
-I'm sorry to the world for Celine Dion and Avril Lavigne.
-I love Molson Canadian.
-I love Alexander keith's beer!
-I love the fact we don't go on war too much. (Ok, recently it's kinda ain't workin).
-I love the entire country. (except a few people in Alberta) (I specify few).
-I love our standing in the world
-It pisses me off when americans staples our canadian flag on their stuff when they go to Europe.
-I love our music. (We have huge artist here).
-I don't say eh or aboot, but I don't condemned people for saying it.
-The second largest land in the world. (althought, it's not really something to brag about).
-I like every canadian member on the escapist. (Even the one who I argue a lot with).
-I have plenty of Canadian stuff I like, but I really need to stop right now.

Its difficult to argue with that. And it's true, Canada does have some excellent things, a little side research into those "Hertiage minute" thingys shows that a Canadian invented Basketball (although he did so on American soil), Superman is half-canadian, and I apparently love our national sport : Lacrosse. Have you ever seen a lacrosse game? Makes professional football look like ballet, and rugby look like kickboxing. (Rugby is still pretty tough)

Hmm, here I was thinking we don't do that enough... maybe we do it too much? Maybe we should organize into small 'chest pounding appointee' groups. Like, 500 Canadians cheering their heads off at a time, in rotation. Keep the morale up, but the arrogance in check?

Nice reference.

I just listed things I like. There's 100 more and still coming.

I just love my country. But, I won't go brag about it to the whole wild world.

I wouldn't have much pride either if I had to ask Britain for independence in 1982.

It gets better; our country was born in 1867 because Britain no longer wanted to bother governing us, we didn't want to leave. The Queen had to push us out against our kicking and screaming and breath-holding.

There's more than a few differences between Canada and the US, despite the superficial similarities...

Hi, my name is Kevin Cumming* from Ontario, and I'm a proud Canadian.

I am proud about our overall position in the world. I am proud to be part of such a culturally diverse nation.

Canada has its flaws, but all in all we live in an alright country. :)

Thanks Jean-Philippe, for giving me a template :p. Pretty much summed up what I came here to say.

*Before you ask, thats my real name.

got canadian pride, but i;m not going to start flaunting it in everyone's faces. as for the independence, we asked for it a lot earlier. we got it a lot earlier. the only thing we asked for in 1982 was seperation. We were and are under a traditional monarchy. the main thing about seperatoin was agreeing that the queen was our queen, but she had no pull and her job was to sit n' look pretty. at least we didn't have to fight and kill for respect. we asked for it and got it peacefully.

Actually, We had many threats from America. England provided guns for the South (during the civil war). Plus we had threats from the irish who wanted a free country.

England tought we could defend ourselves if we we're united. Ontario were crying like you mentionned. Quebec was a bit happy and the atlantic were very against it for economic reasons.
