Canine Chorus Barks Out Flawless Star Wars Tune in Costume

A mysterious new Volkswagen teaser demonstrates why you should never underestimate the power of the Bark Side.

George Lucas may be retiring soon, but something tells me it will be quite awhile before his six three iconic movies and their sweeping scores fade into the dark recess of pop-culture obscurity. For instance, John Williams' epic "Imperial March" debuted back in 1980, and yet today, over thirty years later, everyone still seems to know the Dark Lord's infamous dirge by heart. And, apparently, that includes dogs, too.

In this teaser video for an upcoming announcement by Volkswagen, twelve adorable pups perform what can only be described as one of the most spirited renditions of Darth Vader's theme to date. I could be wrong, but this seems to be nearly 100% legitimate real-time barking, with the minor exception of a Wookie bellow performed midway through by an adorable little pooch whom I've just named "Chew-Bark-a."

Aside from the raw awesomeness that is this doggy-powered a cappella, I have to admit that I'm more than a bit curious about what exactly it's heralding. According to the video's official description, we should "keep an eye out for [Volkswagen's] 2012 Game Day commercial-it will all make sense." Why will this make sense? Is Volkswagen releasing a Millennium Falcon? A hybrid that runs off pug slobber? A new version of the Beetle that can force-choke that dude in front of you who never uses his blinkers even though they are right there next to his steering wheel and would be so easy to just reach over six inches and use so that people behind him wouldn't nearly rear-end his dumb yellow car when he suddenly slows down to turn from the middle of a fifty-mile-per-hour road? I suppose we'll need to wait for the Game Day commercial to find out.

Why I must agree Mr Kavatta. Episodes 1 to 3 were far superior to the supposed 'sequel' trilogy released via time machine as a cheap cash in. I mean really, the ultimate battle to decide to fate of the galaxy is just two guys randomly swinging swords at each other?

A re-launch of the Volkswagen "Trekker" AKA "Thing" to those of us in the U.S.

Star Wars themed to look (even more) like an AT-AT.

:)

And... I have no idea why dogs.

That walker doggie needed a Chihuahua to run around it, tangling its legs in a leash.

Worse, he keeps claiming those pre-ret-cons as how he "always imagined" the series. Can you believe that?

Stiff, clumsy sword fighting and heroes who can barely summon a lightsaber to them?

Now this is how you make a good Star Wars related advert unlike the recent Vodafone advert with Yoda.

And now I'm sad.
No, we must stop this.

*wipes away tear*

When I'm sad, I stop being sad, and be awesome instead.

True story.

I thought that was funny, but I stil ldislike the fact that we humans are willing to subdue all living creatures to amuse us.

The AT-AT dog in the commercial is not the famous Halloween dog Bones Mello the AT-AT Dog [https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bones-Mello-the-AT-AT-Dog/225465154180747] :(

I can see Darth Vader, a stormtrooper, an ewok, Leia, Chewy, and that spanish fish thing. What are the rest of the dogs supposed to represent?

Oh, that's right, the Super Bowl and all its commercials are coming soon...

Oh well, Volkswagon. Don't stop now with the Star Wars themed commercials.
