I about fell out of my chair laughing at the wookie roar.

This is how you make ads that people are happy to watch (and don't go out of their way to circumvent them as often). Too bad it's not common practice, otherwise I might watch TV more often, cause god knows, that was better than most drivel on TV nowadays.

I don't know why, but it looked kinda fake to me. Something just felt off.
I gotta agree. It's a very cool and neat video, but I'm pretty certain that it's faked and edited. Just watch the chihuahua (spelling) when it barks out the quick parts. Very well made, and well put together, but there are slight glitches if you pay attention. I mean getting each individual dog to bark at the right moments would be hard enough, but getting them to bark on-key AND at the right times would be nearly impossible.

That said, the greyhound dressed as an AT-AT got a good laugh outta me.

According to the video's official description, we should "keep an eye out for [Volkswagen's] 2012 Game Day commercial-it will all make sense." Why will this make sense? Is Volkswagen releasing a Millennium Falcon?
Oh god, I wish. Imagine pulling up to a stop with it like Peter Griffin did in Family Guy. :p

But yeah, commercials nowadays hardly ever make sense, so take Volkswagen's statement with a grain of salt. That's my opinion anyways.

As for everyone saying it was faked: well, I'm sure it was, but the important part is that it was entertaining, right?

I think I will call it a day now, as it can only go down hill from this. It's just too cute, awesome and hilarious to be healthy.

I enjoyed the commercial, but I was a little taken aback by the fact that it's selling a car you don't even see, using a theme that has nothing to do with cars. I guess I can't complain though, the way marketing works these days you're gonna see the weirdest incoherent ideas.

TV commercials nowadays are unrecognizable from what they were 20 years ago.
Now you get these out-of-focus MTV jump cuts with a throbbing technosoundtrack
and writhing supermodels in tankinis having simulated lesbian sex in the rain
and a nun riding a yellow bike and a little barefoot kid in a Guatemalan
village, and it's an ad for fucking pretzels.

And if you can recall where I got that joke you get a gold star.

Thus verily I was more heartily entertained in these few scant moments than I ever was by the whole of episode 1.

Volkswagen used Darth Vader in another commercial - remember the little kid dressed as Vader trying to use his Force powers around the house?

One of my favorite commercials ever. It's also worth checking out the "other" version of that. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jtH4beRWAo]

I could be wrong, but this seems to be nearly 100% legitimate real-time barking,
I'm afraid I'm fairly certain you are wrong. If you watch closely, there are a lot of bits where the dogs appear to jerk oddly, especially in the faster sections. And whilst many dogs are very clever and obedient, they do not have the sense of timing (or the detailed memory) that would be required to pull off something like this.

It's a very skilful piece of video editing and I'd love to shake the hand of the guy who did it.

You may be right, but I suppose after seeing this dog video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHlJODYBLKs], I just believe anything is possible.

Why I must agree Mr Kavatta. Episodes 1 to 3 were far superior to the supposed 'sequel' trilogy released via time machine as a cheap cash in. I mean really, the ultimate battle to decide to fate of the galaxy is just two guys randomly swinging swords at each other?
Worse, he keeps claiming those pre-ret-cons as how he "always imagined" the series. Can you believe that?

Stiff, clumsy sword fighting and heroes who can barely summon a lightsaber to them?
Always imagined the series! Really? Imagining the green mentor who took on the biggest evil badass in star wars history being a coughing pansy who struggled just to lift a star fighter? Not to mention Anakins loser son, who was supposedly proud of shooting whump rats at the age his father was building droids, seducing princesses and fighting in an intergalactic war.

My day is suddenly better now. Bravo, VW, for a commercial that isn't lame. There really are too many of the other sort.

Is it really called Volkswagon instead of Volkswagen in the US or do I, Austrian grammar and spelling nazi that I am, see consecutive typos?
That's the American spelling of it.
A quick internet search tells me that it is "Volkswagen of America". So... common misspelling, I suppose.

...Now I'm going to go outside and conduct my own doggy orchestra with my three dogs.

My fatty pit mix can be Jabba
my neurotic pointer one can be C3-PO
and the black chihuahua can be....Darth Vader?

My prediction:

VW, in conjunction with Lucas are releasing a special edition VW for the 3D re-release of the Phantom Menace. The car will be themed after Darth Vader.
