So a few days ago I was hospitalize a few days ago, and apparently when they did my piss test they found Cannabis in my system.

But I know I haven't smoked it, or ate it. Not to my knowledge anyways, and this is causing issues within my family. I know I haven't smoked weed since the last time with my dad, and that was many, many months ago.

My dad is medical, and he can grow it. Sometimes I am around him when he smokes, and we sit and talk while he smokes.

But I tried googling some people say it can come from second hand smoke, and some people say it can't.

I really need help. I want to prove to my father that I am not lying.

takes a while for threads to show up
i can say without a doubt that you can be effected by passive marijuana smoke but whether it will show up on a tox screen i'm not sure

quick googleing says passive smoke unless confined to a small area for a long time will not result in a positive result but i find that hard to believe when you can get a decent buzz just sitting next to someone
now the obvious question. is it possible you ingested marijuana in another form? its a cliche but you didn't happen to eat any brownies in the last week or so did you?

It might not be cannabis.

There's some muffins that have those 'poppy seeds' (sp?) that will do a false-positive.

Poppy seeds have nothing to with thc, that would do a false positive for opiates but I believe this is an urban legend.

OT: There are various ways cannabis can enter your system. It could be as simple as second hand smoke. It could also be that your grower dad didn't wash his hands when he made you a sandwich. Be aware that cannabis accumulates on your body fat for months and can be detected after 2 weeks or in some cases 1 month.

THC can remain in the body for a very long time, and tests are very sensitive. Your dad grows it, so it's very likely that there is a bit of sap around your house. Maybe you accidentally got a tiny bit on your hand before eating or something similar? You could also have inhaled some second-hand, an amount small enough not to effect you.

Secondhand smoke COULD possibly do it, but the chances are so low it's borderline impossible. The tests occasionally have false-positives because they don't actively search for bits of the drug in your piss. Typically they put it in a special machine that looks at particles in your piss. Certain particles are associated with THC/CBD, and the machine interprets the results as that.

There's an easy viewpoint of how (some) urine tests work. I can't say for certain why you got those results as I'm unclear of what kind of urine test your hospital did; whether it was a MS drug test, or a urine test to look for any urinary diseases.
