Actually you only get a bunch of those if you eat the brain or central nervous system. That is where you get the prions, those are what cause the sickness. You can also get it from cows etc by eating the infected tissue. However even if a cow or human has the disease you will not get it by eating properly cooked flesh that is is not contaminated by central nervous tissue. I think I have said it again and again, human flesh is just meat. But it is not a healthy diet. On top of that you can get all kinds of diseases. Historically it has only been practiced as a part of a ritual, or practiced in times of extreme famine, and always on the other guys. You also seem so seriously deranged individuals popping up now and again who kill simply to eat some of the more loaded parts of a person. By loaded I mean viewed as more important, the brain, eyes (window to the soul), the heart, the genitals, the face, etc.
I myself will probably never eat human flesh, and you know what? I don't really think I am missing anything. I will never eat a badgers asshole, not really in a rush to try that either.
When a person dies they really are just a big hunk of meat. If it was a survival situation I could pull it off I think and I would'nt eat the whole body, just the really nutrient rich parts like the liver.
I saw an article once that Humans are the only animal that can't properly digest their own meat so people that eat other people on a regular basis start o stink because of the process that your body does to get rid of the extra left over from not being able to eat it.

As a quick technicality, we're all cannibals. In your lifetime you've probably unknowingly eaten dandruff that has fallen in food at one point, making you a cannibal. But I don't see whats wrong with it anyway, the bodies are eventually eaten by microbes so you might as well be the one to benefit from the death, I mean it's not like they can complain about it.
If you were starving to death I think the will to stay alive will overcome any moral code or obligation beset on you by society. I hear it tastes like pork.
