Cant remember psx a game title

Im pretty sure it was for the psx but it couldve been for the ps2. It was kind of a darker/eviler game with monsters and such, castle type buildings etc. when you start out you pick between a few characters and one was a wizard type dude with a black or dark blue pet bird that flys around when your running and when you stop it lands on your shoulder thats all it did throughout the game. i kinda remember the begining inrtro having an older looking flying/floating ship and i think it crashes or something

have no clue on the title or year, and it wasnt a final fantasy game. it was a 3rd person view, and the character was more a magician per say, it wasnt like a knights n dragons theme. i think me and a friend rented it at a hollywood video. was a long time ago. im thinkin 1996-98
