Uh, yeah - because they said it's not how they'd wanted to implement them and because no one had pissed themselves in anger and demanded they be changed right this instant. It was a shitty part of a good game and everyone went, "Hmph, it is very annoying Mr Game Developer Sir that your very good game has those four shitty parts in it. Perhaps you could do something better or different next time."DVS BSTrD said:Well nobody was bringing-up artistic integrity when it turned out Eidos outsourced the boss battles in Human Revolution, or saying their Endotron 5000 was "the ending fans deserved".Woodsey said:"Purely relating to functionality", as in, not having anything to do with the story. Plenty of criticism was aimed at the fact that people just didn't like the ending, to which "artistic integrity" is a valid response (even if it is shit).DVS BSTrD said:As long as the function isn't tying in ANY of your previous decisions into the ending.Woodsey said:Or, y'know, it's relevant to the actual discussion. These are technical changes relating purely to functionality.DVS BSTrD said:Well you won't have to hear it again until DA3 comes out, because it only matters if it's a Bioware game.kajinking said:LOL nice, I HATED that stupid argument being brought up again and againDVS BSTrD said:But what about artistic integrity?
You'd think BioWare were the only developer to overstate claims or retreat on previously made ones.
Maybe it's because everyone thought Bioware was better than that. We had two games worth of decisions we wanted to see the consequences of: if anyone should have been able to pull that off, it was them.
Same thing for the ending. It's presentation was lacklustre so everyone noted that and hoped they do better in that regard next time. No panty-pissing necessary, so no need to bother telling people that hey, mistakes are made and that endings shouldn't be subject to the will of an audience. If we get a few shit ones then so be it, that's the cost of then getting some truly wonderful ones. Unless, of course, you're in favour of crowd-pleasing, homogenised crap. In which case, panty-piss away.
And yeah, pretty much the entirety of Mass Effect 3 deals with previous decisions and happenings.
