It seems like bad business sense to leave DLC out for a whole console - Cant blame them for feeling snubbed

why is it news or even suprising that games get exclusive dlc on one system or another? i mean what exactly is the big deal?

seems like it should be a non story, with ms just throwing more money at publishers to get more stuff on their system, or if they want to say they gave it as a thank you whatever. welcome to the news of 2 years ago, when it was fallout or batman aa, or etc one system gets something the other system lacks it, people complain.

So like what Microsoft said when Xbox owners didn't get the TF2 DLC? That's still snubbing a console, you fucking lunatics.

The PS3 usually receives the content down the road.

I always buy my games used and severely price slashed, so by the time I buy a game the content would likely have made the transition.

I don't think Capcom understands exactly what "snubbing" means.
I reckon you're right XD

So, they're saying that if PS3 got Dead Rising 1, they we'd get givena present for a small fee as well? WHOOO!!! Paying for our own gifts!! It's such s terrible way to disguise something.

Aww, I didn't know about Case: Zero and Case: West until now... Now I feel snubbed.

So basically they're saying this:

"Don't worry guys, you're not getting less content. You're just getting less content!"

That's some kind of insane troll logic [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/InsaneTrollLogic].

Y'know... I could have believed this if it was just Case Zero. A simple "Thank you" to those who bought the first game. But I remember an old saying: Once is a coincidence, twice is a pattern. (or something along those lines.)

I suppose Microsoft paid big bucks towards Capcom to keep it exclusive. This shit pisses me off, despite being a 360 only gamer.
Seriously you must be sterile any exclusive for PS3 I spam it on every xbox site I can find.

So it's like a present, something that we gave back to the original Dead Rising fans.
... for a small price, that is.
Yea, even if I do get DR2, I don?t particularly see this as a problem: what, I wont be able to get the traditional Capcom overpriced day 1 dlc? I always feel too insulted to buy crap like that before they ever pick any console favorites.
It?s the same reason I wasn?t too disappointed about the ps3 not getting gta4 dlc when I saw how much it was. I wouldn?t/didn?t buy it at that price anyway.
And that?s the other thing, any of this crap that IS ever worth playing (even if it is still overpriced) eventually gets spread around anyway.

Is this because Capcom didn't want to foot the bill for the bandwidth used for downloading the demo on the PSN?

From what I can gather Case Zero was quite a popular download and quite substantial in file size, so I can understand Capcom not wanting to have to pay Sony for every copy of the trial that's downloaded, especially when each trial downloaded isn't a guaranteed purchase.
um the trial cost 5$ a pop
Just because the trial is cheap doesn't mean that everyone who downloads it will pay to unlock it, yet Capcom would still be charged for the initial download [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/90344-Sony-Charges-Third-Parties-for-Selling-DLC].

I downloaded the trial but I didn't think it was good enough to unlock, if I had done this on the PSN rather than X-Box Live then Capcom would still have had to pay for the bandwidth I used to download the trial.

It's not a lot ($0.16/GB), but if enough people downloaded the trial without unlocking it then that could seriously cut into their profit margins.

Roughly speaking, if for every one person who paid $5 to unlock the trial, 35 people just downloaded it without unlocking it, then Capcom would lose money.

Okay, first of all, Case Zero and Case West aren't downloadable content for Dead Rising 2. Yes, you download them and they can be called DLC on their own right, just like you could call, I dunno, Limbo DLC (pick any XBLA title really)... But they aren't DLC for Dead Rising 2. They are two stand alone games that do not require Dead Rising 2 to play. Normally when you say something is DLC for something else, you need the "something else" in order to use the content. So if you go and download Lair of the Shadow Broker from the Xbox Live Marketplace and try to play it without Mass Effect 2, that just isn't happening. That makes Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC for Mass Effect 2.

But again, Case Zero and Case West are not DLC for Dead Rising 2. They are stand alone games. PS3 not getting them is the same thing as them not getting Dead Rising 1. Just another game they didn't get, nothing more. As Shinsaku Ohara said, they aren't missing out on any Dead Rising 2 content. They get the full Dead Rising 2 that 360 players get with no missing piece of that single game.

why would you download it if you didnt plan on playing the 5$ prequal/demo? and I really dont think that affected there thinking, they get charged by Xbox to have it up on xbox live as well if you didnt know.
As far as I know Microsoft passes on the bandwidth charge to the user, as part of the Gold fee, not the developers for hosting demos.

As to why would you download a trial if you didn't intend to buy it... well that's the point of a trial, you play it first to see whether you like it enough to pay to unlock it. Case Zero is a standalone XBLA game in it's own right and not just a demo.

I downloaded the trial of Case Zero to see whether I would enjoy it, but I didn't so I didn't pay to unlock it, but it's not surprising because I didn't like the first Dead Rising very much, so I would have been stupid to buy Case Zero without playing the trial first.
