You could come over to my place and play it or I could go over to yours and play yours.
You can still go over to your friend's house and play fighters like it's 1995.
What happened to "OMG ONLINE IS SOOO IMPORTANT"?
It is for most people, but if you just want to play with your friends at there house like with older street fighters (where adding two characters and some colours was ok), you can still do that.

You missed the point here. When Streetfighter 2 went crazy with remakes back then it didn't effect players. Our options were either play against the CPU or play against real people in the same room on the same console or cabinet. So if I had SF2 Turbo and you had Super SF2 it didn't matter. Neither one of us had to go out and buy the other game to be able to play against each other. With the way this is set up that is no longer the case. If I want to be able to play against friends nowadays I will have to buy both (if I had bought the first).

Any word if the DLC will be compatible with the re release?
