Not just that. Look at their portfolio of games. There's so many repeats on there (Megaman, Street Fighter, Resident Evil...) that they haven't really worked on many new IP Titles.

I betcha some people would love a new Dino Crisis or even Strider but it's taking Capcom as long to count new titles as it was for them to count to III.

well its more or less of an opinion, probably becuase Lost Planet 2 got low review scores and a lot of ppl listen to reviewers as gods. I mean I play Lost Planet 2 and love it ALOT, Monster Hunter Tri got pretty good reviews and everyone I know loves the game. (also it sold over 1mil copies, so I am suprised they said that... Also Lost Planet 2 is almost at a mil.)

If you want to boost your sales, give us Devil may cry 5...hell, even announcing its existence will be fine for me.

I'd settle for a new Onimusha.
I have no problems with a new Onimusha either.

Not to mention none of them looked all that appealing. I didn't even bother with the reviews since i had no intrest in them.

Haha, cant blame piracy on the PC for poor sales eh Capcom ?

Problem here is that Capcom is taking lessons from Kotick and 'exploiting' IP's to death... and not releasing anything new and refreshing.
It seems a lot of the entertainment business is on this 'exploit' old IP's ... books being re-released, old music dragged out, old movies being re done, old classic games getting updated.
It seems that trying to come up with something original is too risky and too expensive, its easier to rehash a proven concept and risk a new idea.

Guess we wait for independant devs to create a prototype of the new genre or IP, and the big guys fighting to snatch it up once its proven to be a success.

I'm getting a little lost in the metaphor; considering that Ryu and Ken's trademark Shoryuken move could be translated as "Rising Dragon Fist," I don't see why you'd allude to it in a case of falling sales... I would say they saw an "Izuna Drop" in sales.
It did in fact, take a Shoryuken. What goes up must come down.

Am I the only one who though LP2 was amazing?
I loved that game!
OT: I reckon it'll change with the release of Dead Rising: 2 and the new Marvel vs Capcom.
I expect those games to sell very well.

I don't know it could be backlash over Super Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5. Both of those products seemed to get some very mixed reactions due to the way they were released and/or things that were DLC. They might have made people a lot more wary of Capcom's products for fear of being asked to pay extra for the online mode, or see an expanded version of whatever game they purchused come out right around the corner. To say nothing of the costumes and so on.
I know they?ve made me more wary.
$18 for extra costumes?! That?s obscene.
I paid $10 for Borderlands DLC and got hours of more game to play. I couldn?t imagine even paying $5 to make all the characters look a little different.

Yes, and also one of the things to consider is that up until recently unlocking alternate costumes was part of the core product, giving you incentive to play and master a character enough to do it. Paying for costumes and recolors of fighting games is one of the key arguements for DLC getting out of control, and well away from the original intent when people were argueing for it.

Nope. The main reason LP2 was marked down in reviews was because of the battle gauge i.e should your teammates die a fixed amount of times within a mission, then it would be game over.

Virtually every review I saw lashed out at this but I have not seen the problem with it. Sure it's frustrating if people keep dying but it only really happens if:

A) The players are overconfident and assume they don't need the rest of the team for support. Believe me on some bosses, some people would do well to pull fingers out of arses and finish the job together instead of running off and dying alone when they get singled out and mauled

B) Under experienced players which can't be helped as we were all new to the game once long ago

No infinite respawns? A proverbial life system?! It shouldn't be allowed they proclaimed because god forbid you were actually forced to work as a team. You get a good teamwork rhythm going and there is nothing that can stop you from getting the job done and having a good time doing it.

The accusations and criticism thrown at Lost Planet 2 can go whistle for a baboon as far as I'm concerned!

Like with the gta4 dlc: all I wanted from them were the little weapons, vehicles, and things that (last generation) you would normally unlock while playing. I didn?t want to pay another $20 for that.

Yikes. Guess that's the price you pay for a lackluster release schedule, overpromotion of niche titles compared to ones with wider recognition and name value (don't care if you like or hate Monster Hunter, those ad dollars should have gone to something like Street Fighter which is far more recognizable to the common man), failure to capitalize/monitize popular properties in a next-gen environment, and poor pricing schemas for low-return DLCs. It may not be popular round here to super-sequalize, but in a rough environment like this, better go after the built in audiences hard and fast. And by that I mean MAKE FREAKING MEGA MAN LEGENDS 3!

Another thing is the seniority deal that Japanese game companies are known for. The older you are in a corporation, the more clout and seniority.

It's a lot of reason why Yuji Naka left Sega (Sonic the Hedgehog. Nuf said) as well as Clover Studios was even made in the first place.

Maybe they should release some huge blockbuster title. Something they don't normally do, you know, change up from fighters. Maybe something like Megaman Legends 3....
Wink wink, hint hint.

now that they have a new game engine for street fighter that will likely also be used for the new Marvle vs Capcom and there working on another for the next mega man (which will likely be used for the next 5 mega man games) Capcom should balance out the profits as they release more sequals to there flagship games without having to spend as much to make them
