I have stopped watching it in fact and doubt I will go back till we get a new doctor (hopefully before the anniversary).
Sorry, but Matt Smith is hanging around until at least the 50th anniversary.

I kinda lost all respect towards Barrowman when I turned the TV on when babysitting my 9-year old niece and he showed up 'Playing horsy' With an Italian bloke.

Thanks, but no thanks.
To be honest you should really know better than to let a nine year old watch TV after the 9pm watershed unless you know the program you're showing will definitely be suitable.

OT: I hope this happens but it's a long way off, so whatever, maybe he can be in a couple of episodes before then?

Well, if he has the potential to be part of the anniversary as Jack Harkness... that clearly means he doesn't sacrifice himself at the end of Miracle day, and definitely lives. Bit of a spoiler there.. Granted, I was hoping it wouldn't anyway. Massively clichƩ.

#You'll soon be back Jack, in 2013 for sure.#

Oh, please do. Captain Jack is one of the best characters in anything. Ever.

What? Why? That's what makes him Jack! Everyone loves him, and whether you're male, female, human, or otherwise, he will gladly love you back.

I'm surprised Moffat is even entertaining the idea considering how he basically threw all of the 9th and 10th's support characters down the drain and pretty much rebooted the series with the 11th.
If they do bring the Jack back I want him to criticize the doctor from changing so much, seriously the doctor went to I'm going to do my damndest to save everyone, to meh if I save anyone its ok...but whatever, to screw everyone else, I only care about my companions!

Apparently I'm the only one on the site who enjoys Moffat's bizarre mix of fun, silly and creepy more then Davies' 'Still good but for the love of god stop trying to write in political and social commentary, you're not good at it' storytelling. I've always watched Doctor Who for fun, and Moffat's work just seems to offer up more then Davies for me. I've got no problem with Tennant either, he was a great doctor, but I just don't see where the hate on Smith is coming from.

Never was a fan of Torchwood, especially early on when it was REALLY bad. But Cap'n Jack was probably the best part of that series, I completely approve.

Oh I would love to have you back jack! not just for the anniversary (which would be great) but also as a perma-character!

It'd be great to have more long running, multi-series spanning characters (see the also ever-georgous dr.River Song).
And since we know that Jack has a far grander destiny (see face of Boe), why not include some of his fantastic adventures with the doctor! :)

PLEASE COME BACK FOR US JACK!!!

Yeah, still haven't actually watched the new season of Torchwood. I'll watch it eventually, but still watching Doctor Who religiously.
The new Torchwood is a lot better than the new series of Who.

It's actually got an interesting plot and because it's shown a little later on in the water shedding, it's not afraid to kill(sort of) off a few main characters when you're not expecting it.
QFT. Torchwood has been getting better and better while Dr Who seems to be becoming more and more "pseudo-drama".

OT: It would be great to see Jack as a part of the celebrations since he has really become a major thread in the modern Who narrative (the face of Bo, Torchwood, Dalek invasions, etc.).

EDIT: Also, bring back Christopher Eccleston. I don't care how, just do it.
Ouch. That's a pretty tough request, considering why Christopher Eccleston left to begin with.
He just didn't want to do it for more than one season.
I guess you might be able to convince him to show up for a one-off event or something, but given it was entirely his own decision to leave...

Yeah, I know, but it's just wishful thinking.

It wasn't after 9pm - I think someone had recorded it then turned the TV off at an inopportune moment. I do try to be responsible! =P

I like Capt. Jack.

I liked the first season of Torchwood, kinda lost interest mid season 2, and totally missed Children. I did enjoy Miracle Day, so many twists and turns I couldn't wait to see it what happened next, and several episodes left me slack jawed in amazement with the cliff hangers, although the ending was a bit of a letdown.

Also my understandning is that Torchwood was to be a much darker, more mature show than Dr. Who, so we get the brutal deaths, and Jack's sexcapades.

Yes Jack will hit on, and screw man or woman, and I'm sure there were a few alien not totally humanoid types in there as well. Sometimes it gets a little borig.

As for Dr. Who, I like Matt Smith as the Doctor, but the stories themselves this season...pretty much any episode that wasn't a crucial part of the main story arc was totally forgettable (Except "The Doctor's Wife").
I've enjoyed all the Doctors since '05, and I understand why they wish to ignore all Dr. Tenant connections with Dr. Smith, that dude (Tenant) became "THE DOCTOR" for this generation of Who fans, so to establish the new guy you really have to distance yourself from anything that will remind fans of who came before. Eccelston was good but he wasn't around long enough to entrench himself as much as Tenant did.

Wasn't Capt. Jack already immortal? Wasn't it spelled out that Rose had nothing to do with Jack coming back to life after they revealed he could come back.

They can't..... The Doctor cannot cross his own timeline ( universe implodes....life as we know it would come to an end, cats and dogs living together....... MAYHEM I tell you.

By the way, FOR EVERYONE really..... If you want to see somthing really freaky, watch Season 2 episode 6 of Confessions of a Call Girl. Basically Billie Piper and Matt Smith have a non love scene, yeah I know its not David Tennant, but it is The Doctor.

Yeah. No thanks. I personally can't stand Harkness. He's essentially just an incredibly annoying but also incredibly less-interesting version of The Doctor and there is no good reason for his existence.

Integral my ass.
