Can't wait for the movie but I wonder who was the Skrull that took Fury's eye.

....A prequel? So they want to mess up Ms. Marvel's story arch even more?

Is it just me, or is the MCU's cannon fodder really...boring?

I mean, think about it - Avengers, Guardians, the chitauri and...other guys are predominantly grey, and exist only as cannon fodder. Haven't seen Age of Ultron as well, but the robots seem greyish there as well. Then there's these guys who look grey as well.

Maybe it's to establish a point of contrast with the brightly coloured heroes, but there seems to be a lot of 'grunge creep' going on. Or, going by the top image, these guys are green? So...space orcs?

She appears to be fighting Skrulls, which are...I guess kind of Space Orcs. They are green.

However the Kree should be popping up too and in the MCU they are blue. Ronan, the bad guy from Guardians of the Galaxy 1 was Kree.

Edit: Though the inclusion of Skrulls is a good sign, since they tend to be more associated with Fantastic Four. I'd love for them to get their Homecoming too.

This is an interesting idea. I'm assuming her origin will be space mission gone wrong, which I also assume is her comic book origins.

Still, this seems a little risky. A prequel for the MCU seems very counter intuitive.

I find the idea appealing at this point. The problem with the MCU is that in any film in the series, there's potentially a lot of baggage you need to familiarize yourself with before seeing it, even from films that don't necessarily share the same title (e.g. one would need to be familiar with the Avengers films for Civil War). Exceptions exist such as Guardians and Doctor Strange, but they're just that - exceptions.

So if there's a stand-alone prequel that I don't need to do homework for, that does raise my chances of seeing it.

The MCU can't come up with proper villains, and those superheroes are gonna have to punch something, right? Luckily there'll always be some generic evil army out there.

She is an Air-Force Pilot who meets a guy who is secretly an alien. She tries to save him from an explosion, but doesnt quite succeed and gets "mixed with his DNA" giving her her powers. The guy in question is the Kree Captain Marvel. Thus she becomes Ms. Marvel.

How the film will do it, I dont know, but I expect major alterations.

Cool.

Like the outfit. Captain Marvel has one of the best superhero costumes around. Looks cool and colourful while still looking almost like something someone might actually wear.

Prequel though? I mean, I don't mind, but does that mean they're gonna be like, "Oh yeah, this chick has been flying around blasting aliens for at least twenty years, but nobody thought to mention it before"?

Or does she only do her thing in space and stays quiet on Earth? Could work, but still, it seems like she would have been real useful when New York was being invaded by aliens.

Oh, and wouldn't that make her like 50-60 years old in the present day MCU? How's that going to work?

I 'unno.

Wait, Skrulls? I thought Marvel didn't have the rights to the Skrulls?

Not really, she basically gets the powers of an alien hero (Kree's Mar-Vell) after some weird accident. But if it is a prequel, I am guessing the 'lost in space' is likely the direction they are going. They have to account for the fact Fury knows a flying woman that is as strong as the Hulk and she wasn't recruited in Avengers.

My guess is that a space flight goes wrong and she ends up in a different part of the galaxy with powers. She has some zany space adventures (similar to GotG), and it takes her 20 years to find and return to Earth (just in time to kick some Thanos ass)

It's co-owned with Fox, but they can't use Super Skrull or the queen.

OT: oh boy, a movie modified version of the failed costume that fans universally hate that hasn't had a single attempt to use it result in what can be called even a marginally successful comic (how do you fail to launch 4 comics consecutively?). Guess Marvel's starting to loose its touch given they didn't do stuff like this in phase one.

Because it's Disney and you can't have the good guys slaughtering characters with actual character. So it's always indistinct aliens, robots, machinery or expendable "avatars" of the evil guy (Ultron, Ego).

Stuck in the Quantum Realm is my guess.
