I get the feeling that I'm not the only one who noticed this. The captcha uses jumbles of letters and symbols that I can't see let alone copy. They even had the audacity to use symbols that I don't think are on my keyboard. Any have something say? Maybe an explanation or any funny comments about it.

Just click the refresh button to get a new one. It's annoying yes, but from what I can see, it's here to stay.

Here's something fun for you to do with them.

Each captcha is an order from an Omniscient being known as Inglip. You are tasked with obeying every single one. There's a meme all about it, and has produced results of epic proportions. I do it whenever I need to sign up for something.

Calumon: Anyone else find it weird how Jack is saying this but won't get them himself because of him being in that club thingy?

Click refresh, it's really annoying with the captcha, but ask yourself... Would you prefer havig to click refresh, and type in an annoying little code sequence every other post (since it doesn't appear every post) or would you prefer that bots spammed their websites on here like has been seen before...

It's gotten absurd. I really think that this captcha thing needs to calm down.

Were spambots really that much of a problem? I've never ran across any of them during my time here, including the year or so that I was a lurker.

That green/aqua background one was better than the red one we've got currently. Easier to read and only using the alphabet that English comes from (is it the latin alphabet?).

you say that but before there wasnt many bots anyway. I hadn't seen any personally and heard of maybe two isolated (but apparantly huge) occurances for it happening.
Well, we ARE prepping for March Madness...there's a lot of crazy shit that goes down during that.

It irks me so, and it won't help during March madness because the wrst part about that is real people who join and yet are about as intelligent as spambots.

Yeah.

Anyhow, I really don't like the Captcha right now, because it doesn't even have real words, and for me at least it often has a white streak running through some of the words which makes it literally impossible to read, because it pixellates it far too much.

What is a spambot?
A spambot is a program you regiesters on forums and begins spamming a link and advertising a product for free. Its usually for a blog or a youtube video of some kind, but its just a lazy and stupid way to get free advertisement.

In short, we had a lot of problems regarding them and that's the whole reason why we have a Captcha system now.

I'm not trying to sound condescending, but have you DMed/GMed before? It results in a lot of stress, and causes even small things such as isolated cases of bots to become a serious hazard to their mental wellbeing. I've seen administrators and such litterally snap over small things from the stress fo it all.

Every attempt to take away stress from them is good for them. :)

I've seen about... 3-4 cases of bots, but I've heard about quite a few on here.

It's supposed to be hard to read.
That's how it fools spambots.
Just put up with it until March Mayhem is over. We put up with a Valve victory last year, this is nothing.

Personally I don't see what's wrong with captcha, it reduces spam, makes you think about what you're posting. And some of them can be hilarious like the above. x3

SHHHHHHH!!! They might overthrow us!

OT: When I was getting them, I just refreshed until I could understand it. However, as a preventative measure, I was copying my whole post just to make sure I had it saved if something glitched up. It happened to me once and I was irked at losing several minutes worth of writing.

Has anyone ever listened to the audio versions of the captchas? I just tried it and it sounded like a creepy phone call in a bad horror movie, it was also impossible to tell what they wanted me to type. The only problem I have with captchas is that they aren't real words and they're almost always hard to read. I had to refresh this captcha 12 times before I got one that was legible.
