Have you ever seen a spambot with a post count over 100? 1000? 5000?

They're getting through anyway and these captchas annoy all of us who don't have the money to get the publisher club (so don't suggest it, we know its there and we're not getting it). Would a number to pass be really that hard? Spambots are easily spotted anyway and if they have 100+ posts before they start plugging links they must be dedicated. Dedicated and immediately banned by the trigger happy mods.

So yeah, post your thoughts.

EDIT: Captcha error trying to post this. Hehehhehe.

I'm a bit ahead of you there on the complaint department, but I'm always glad to hear from a fellow with like-minded irritations. In addition to failing to do their jobs AND testing people who are WAY obviously not bots - like me - there is the fact that they're suppose to be spaced by a bunch of posts. Like...10? 20? I forget. Has not been happening right. They don't work. They should be applied to the 'building an account' process instead, but what do we smart people know? I AM A ROBOT, APPARENTLY. DUUUURRRRR!

And Moo, I say!

Anyway, I don't even want in the pub club. Some damn consistancy would be nice.

Well, I don't know about that, have you been to Warcry recently? That place is crawling with bots, though I don't think any of them have 100 posts yet, I thinks some will eventually get there and since accounts are pretty in warcry and escapist are one and the same it would be rather easy for the bot to start posting here, though that's quite a stretch, anyway I don't really find captchas all that annoying, I don't even see them all that often and when I see them is around every 10 or so posts which doesn't really bother me, but I can see how it would bother more active people.

Heh, captcha shows up as soon as I started typing. :D

Well indeed the captcha system here is quite odd. :3 The only time I've ever really been bothered by it is before I started getting in the habit of copying my posts before I actually post them. Of course a captcha error would happen when I would write some long-winded post. It got me quite mad really. x3

So, it forced me to adopt the habit of repeatedly selecting all and copying my post before I hit the button. It's not too much of a bother, but it would be nice to eventually just be rid of it after a certain point. :3

After 10,000 posts you get to avoid capcha?

Most users in that vicinity are pub club members.

It earns the site a small amount of money for each one, and it only takes about a second, which doesn't really bother me. Haven't heard that it stops after a certain post limit, although that'd certainly be cool. It's most annoying when you open several tabs, you attempt to post, then it redirects you to a captcha page. Especially with loading time. As I've said though, it's not something I particularly care about.

Maybe you should make a poll for how many people have used a captcha for this thread, because I think most people have so far.

That's another thing... I make a post and hit post, it takes 2 minutes and then I get a captcha error.

It's a double edged sword because it annoys everybody, and it does it all the time, all for the sake of preventing an annoyance that occurs occasionally and tends to last for only a small amount of time before being dealt with by moderators.
I hate spambots as much as the next person but they don't make me have to wait to find out that I've entered it wrong. Is having a slow internet connection such a crime? Do I really have to be reminded of it everytime a captcha is unreadable?

This loophole has been around as long as we've had CAPTCHAs, yet I've heard no good reason not to do it.
