Well, I recently realized that a vehicle of my own isn't that far off. I've been hired and will be able to purchase a decent used car within two or three years, without financing or loans. But the insurance is a huge problem.
I got a free online quote from TD (Toronto Dominion Bank), and it was somewhere around $3300 per year, or about $275 per month. I was choosing to quote for a 1999 Volkswagen Passat GLS, at 17 years old. I know that those options won't get me the cheapest quote, but it'll still be over $2000 annually, no matter what.
Obviously, I can't insure it myself (only a part-time job). I could insure it under my parents' policy, but then one of them would have to be listed as the owner (which they won't be).
Those of you who own a vehicle and are insured:
How did you do it? How much were you paying monthly/annually? Any tips for young drivers like myself?
