Car low beam question.

My dad drives a 2002 Volvo V70.

Anyway, both low beams went out within a week. We bought new ones, and put them in, but they don't seem to be working. They're not blown. The fuse isn't blown. The only thing that I can think of is the wiring, but that would be pretty unusual for the wires to both go bad within the same time frame as the old lights blowing out.

I'm more of a mechanical guy than electrical guy, so I'm not sure what the problem may be, and cars aren't exactly my specialty. Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

Some times (if you find the right employee), you can get Pep Boys to hook up a hand-held device and do an electronic diagnostic for free. That's how I determined that I had twisted and broken a spark plug while installing akwardly in my Grand Am. Or your Dad could call a Volvo dealer. It's an older car, and probably used, but still worth a shot. I hear that Volvo treats their customers better than Apple, and that's a big deal.

The easiest and cheapest way i can think of finding out if it is indeed the wiring that is at fault is to take out the lamps and use a multimeter to see if you are getting a current. You probably are best taking it to the dealer and asking them to have a look at it though.
