I stopped watching Cartoon Network around the time Toonami died.

Ocassionally I'd flick over to something late at night, like Dexter's Lab, Power Puff Girls, Justice League, Teen titans etc. I started watching Ben 10 for a little bit and even Batman B&B, but I just avoid TV entirely now. Nickelodeon is dead and so is Disney Channel. Fucking kids of today.

Yea they canceled "Batman: Brave and the Bold"
And now all they have is a bunch of shitty reality shows.

FUCK YOU CARTOON NETWORK
It is not all bad. I mean they are cancelling it to start work on a more serious Batman series. I think that is great. I found Brave and Bold to be entertaining but I prefer my Batman cartoons to be more serious.

I dare you to name one good show still on Caritoon Network (well, I mean like premiering ones with NEW episodes so no Courage reruns, etc.)
Adventure Time with Finn and Jake is pure, undiluted awesomeness.

Not to mention they're a bunch of LIARS!
Just the other night I walked into the room and my brother was watching Spiderman 2 on CARTOON Network. Spiderman 2 is not a cartoon. Also when popeye used to air on it before moving to boomerang or whatever. the had a black and white popeye marathon, but one of them was in COLOUR. Damn you cartoon network.
its only called black and white popeye because it will show atleast one white guy and at least one black guy... thats pretty bad

End of the 90s was when I can literally not think of a single cartoon that sucked on CN. Even shows like courage the cowardly dog, which while interesting just didn't appeal to me, eventually grew on me and I began to appreciate them with time. Beginning of the 90s were also glory days in many ways too...but not as much as when the Cartoon cartoon initiative really took off - that one really made it into solid gold.

Nowadays there are still good toons that are made I think. But it's like the ratio has dropped to something like 1/3 good stuff, 2/3 cut-pasted CGI-driven crud. Then there are shows like Ben 10 whose beginning I actually liked and loved the characterization, but which eventually just grew into something I had far less interest in watching (Alien Force). One thing that does piss me off regardless though is the amount of fluff they've recently shoved inbetween cartoons. I liked the older 90s adverts a lot more, since you felt as if they were focused on promoting the toons during other times...nowadays it just feels way too corporate tbh.

So I wouldn't say CN is dead or such BS that keeps flying about all the time. Sure, things like Teen Drama piss me off but...meh. With news like Genndy Tartakovsky coming back with a brand new show and hopefully one or two other studios deciding to follow suit...I can see it becoming better soon enough.

Same with Nickelodian. How did stuff like Rugrats NOT survive? "oh don't worry, we have the fairly odd parents", FUUUUUCK YOOOOOU! I want my good cartoons back damn it!

dude rugrats survived for a long time, It got a new series called all grown up. (also I dont think fairly odd parents was bad considering that it spawned from ohhhhhhhhh yaaaaaaaa a show of animated shorts.)

Anyone remember CNX? Think it was called CNX, it later became Toonami. I remember watching Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star and Spawn every night. They also had random kung fu flicks and stuff most nights, Toonami was cool and all but I prefered the more adult CNX listings.
Anywho, I'm with everyone else in here: Cartoon Network is a shadow of it's former self.

No one likes Cartoon Network and with good reason. They seem to have forgotten that the word "Cartoon" is in their name. But they haven't put out a good show since Teen Titans. It's almost as if they don't try anymore. Adult Swim is no better. All the awesome Williams Street stuff and the kickass anime they used to show, have been replaced with crappy FOX animation shows like Futurama and Family Guy. Annoying as it is, I'd let it slide if the block wasn't also still pushing Tim and Eric shit, despite the enormous amount of hate mail they receive for keeping those two untalented doofs on the air. And then they green light shit like Squidbillies, Assy McGee and 120z Mouse in an effort to appease the handful of viewers who possess the necessary brain damage to think Tim and Eric are funny. I haven't really paid a great deal of attention of CN or AS lately, for obvious reasons. I don't know if those shows are still running. But considering CN is more tone deaf to it's audience than Barack Obama is to his voters, it would not surprise me if those idiotic shows were being picked up for 7th or 8th seasons...

Robot Chicken is the only watchable show, but you can see their best stuff on their youtube channel. Sadly we mourn the loss of truly hilarious shows like Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, The Brak Show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Sealab 2021.

Tim and Eric: Awful Show, Good God! is easily the worst show in the history of television.
There are two good shows CURRENTLY RUNNING on adult swim, Venture bros, and Boondocks.

Well, there was the fact that they got rid of Megas, as you said. And then there's all that Ben 10 bullshit...

But that one Canadian cartoon, I forget what it's called, about a reality TV show is pretty good... And they ended Ed, Edd and Eddy on a spectacular movie, so it's about even.

CN is actually starting to get much better now. Sym-Biotic Titan is an excellent show, and Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. is absolutely fantastic. While I don't really dig Adventure Time/Regular Show, I appreciate that they are quality shows (for the record I prefer Regular Show). I feel I have to mention Generator Rex and Ben 10 as well, I hate them but at least they aren't total crap.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold is NOT CANCELED. The new season of Batman just started, I can't believe the amount of people saying that it is. They show new episodes of it on Fridays, along with Sym-Biotic Titan.

Anyone who says CN sucks is just bitter about canceled shows. Yes, it sucks CN canceled a bunch of good shows, but give them a chance. I'm more mad at the people that didn't watch the shows than the people that canceled them. I mean, they're a business what are they going to do. Apparently, they are a bunch of people that aren't watching the brilliant shows (Batman, Scooby, Sym-Biotic) on CN based on the comments on this thread. There's pretty much no buzz on those shows, yet they are on par or better than some of the shows people are complaining about. It just seems so hypocritical. Watch the shows maybe we might be able to keep them. Gah! Sorry for the rant, it makes me so mad.

It's weird that at the time CN started airing awful reality and live-action programs like "Unnatural History" and "Dude, What Would Happen" good cartoons started to appear. They should get rid of the live-action/reality shows it really undermines the quality cartoons they're getting.

Cartoon Network has been crap for ages ever since they dropped their commercials with Droopy and Shaggy in a convertible bragging about cartoons 24/7 and moved on to shitty reality shows.
They dropped the great classics and moved on to crap,

Regular Show and Mad are 15 minutes long and, I haven't seen many new episodes of Chowder. Also, What happened to Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends?

Another gripe: How did Ed Edd n' Eddy survive so long but Dexter's Lab and, Johnny Bravo not?

edit: Also: Why do they play Tom and Jerry but not the Looney Tunes!? Everything Tom and Jerry have done was also done by the Looney Tunes only better. Cartoon Network is also showing live action shows. You are Cartoon Network, a network for cartoons! It's really hard to screw that up and yet there you go!
I believe Dexters creator moved on to Power Puff Girls, then before long Samurai Jack, then Fosters Home, he didn't really focus on one project too long. Which is a shame because a ending to Samurai Jack would have been nice.
Samuri Jack and Dexter was made by Genndy Tartakovsky, but Fosters was Craig McCracken
Whoops haha, well either way. :\

The only thing on Cartoon Network I still watch is Venture Bros.

CN deserves a flogging for getting rid of Toonami and moving all the anime so damn late normal people aren't going to watch it.

Yes, I despize Cartoon Network, I only watch when Adult Swim is on, but now they are putting up live action stuff. It's only a matter of time....
That avatar. It made me laugh. Loudly. Thank you.

Anyway, I think it's safe to say that Cartoon Network went down the shitter when Johnny Bravo left its programming schedule and anything after that was just gasping for air. Of course, I'm not including Adult Swim in this assessment, as that would require quite a lot more writing to describe.

American cartoons in general suck these days. There have been exceptions, like the wonderfully bizarre and creative Invader Zim and the fantasy masterpiece Avatar: The Last Airbender, but beyond that there hasn't been much quality since Recess. And considering neither of the shows I mentioned were on Cartoon Network, I'm going to say I simply don't care. They haven't done anything to specifically offend me, I just see no real quality there.
