Castle Crashers is a game that recently came out on Xbox Live Arcade. Cutting right to the chase its a side scrolling hack'n slash. You first choose which knight you wish to be ( four knights each representing a different element). In the begining it is pretty much a run of the mill tap x for a while then hit y for a bit of variety. Nothing really special. You do indeed occaisonally get new combos but I never found any real use to them. You can also cast a small variety of magic later as well. Same as usual, fight through swarms of badduns and fight the boss at the end. Same ol' same ol' right? Well that is somewhat true.

However this game offers a little bit extra. Each time you level you recieve two stat points which you can put into four different catergories( defense, magic, agility, and strentgh)which has a large effect on your characters. Enabaling a bit of variety in different chacters, each charcter bringing something else to the party.Lets say your an ice knight, who went all magic, but you are taking too much damage due to no defense. You call up your friends who went all defense, and let him tank, problem solved. Also you can collect different unlockable weapons along the way, which adds more points into your four stat columns. Another addition is the pet option. Along your quest you can find a barnyard full of pets, each bring a different ability to help you along your journey.( though the names are rather uncreative.( giraffey seriously?). So that adds a little bit of after play after you beat campaign.

Campaign, as per usual for most arcade games is rather short, but has some replayability to it, such as collecting the pets and leveling up for PVP. The story is pretty basic. Am evil dude stole the kings daughters and some big diamond for no apparent reason, and you have to get the crystal and return the girls. Along the way you fight *ahem* very interesting bosses, Such as a half dragon half sock puppet. Along the way there is alot of "humor". Its crude, borrish and unsophisticated potty humor. Which, I must say, was rather entertaining. C'mon a giant bear crapping itself from hearing some big noise, thats classic. Ok not really but who cares.

This game also offers multiplayer and the afore mentioned pvp. Dont have any friends in real life? No problem, invite Xbox Live friends to assist you in campaign. Although this is the best way to lose them. Because after some boss fights, the knights fight over the princess who they just saved. And when someone steals a kiss from you, that just F'ed up. Also you can take your characters from campaign and battle them in matches online( I have yet to try that out).

Pretty much Castle Crashers is fun casual game, good for a bit of change from the super serious shooter( oh snap alliteration!). I'd say buy, if your willing to chip out 15 bucks. A little pricey, but its still fun.

(ps this is my first review, so please dont eat me)

Pretty good review.

Clean up that punctuation and grammar though. I did quite enjoy Castle Crashers myself.
