Damn, I can't imagine how it would feel like to be the devs right now. They spend 10 years on a project and it's not even going to see the light. It'd be bad enough if it had ended up being a bad game, but this is worse since you have absolutely nothing to show for it. Not to mention that now 56 of them are going to be unemployed

Heard about it yesterday, very disappointed. Don't have much to say because I already had a giant discussion with a friend of mine, let me just upload some leaked screens of the game. A tester leaked them a couple of days ago on /v/, maybe he knew what was going to happen, maybe not. It was in pre-pre-alpha state and they had to rebuild it from scratch twice. So the game had nothing at that point, was barely even playable.

Well I knew this was coming down the pipe for about two years. All info just dried up quickly and then nothing was really talked about. Best of luck finding a new job folks.

Can they make a single player WoD game now? Preferably a OWoD in the vain of Bloodlines.
Yeah... they need to get Obsidian to get back on the setting...

but this time... maybe focus on a different part of the WoD?

Like say... Wraith?

Or the mages?

Demons or Hunters. A mage game would be messy and hard to pull off. Wrath would go over most people and run the risk of just being too damn depressing. Now if they got some wonder team on it a Wrath game would be boss in the vain of planescape torment.

Hunters would be the best bet in the long run.
Demon: the Fallen! It has some serious video game potential, more so than Hunter I feel. I'd also like to see more out of the Werewolf: the Apocalypse, especially the other were-beasts, a game where you play a Corvax would be very cool(or for a campy ARPG, why not a Mokole? Design your own dinosaur form).

I'm strangely disappointed by this news. Being a long, long, long time WoD player (2nd Edition Mage Represent!) each time I saw news of this I actually started to think about ways that I could incorporate this game into my life. Never all that seriously since there was no dates given, but it was always something I spent time contemplating. I haven't done that with any other MMO, even the ones I bought (Old Republic... I must have been drunk.). I'm not doing that with ESO, I've never done that with WOW, Eveerquest or Guild Wars (though Mrs. Makt used to play GW with her family back when it first came out. It was a nice way for them to keep in touch, but it petered off after a year or so.).

But the hypothetical WoD MMO was different to me. It would have been my one exception to the rule of not playing a subscription based MMO. Shame that it's gone now for the people working on it who are now laid off, for the people who were looking forward to it, but I suppose this means I'm going to save hundreds of dollars by not buying and playing the game. So there's that upside to me, I guess.

CCP has had practically nothing to do with WoD or any whitewolf products beyond siphoning staff and money for the MMO until now. One of the Whitewolf guys had to start a second publishing company and kickstart practically, if not every, book they've released for awhile. They basically killed Whitewolf, and the best you can say is that they're letting Onyx Path Publishing use the IPs. But then, I have no idea what cut of that profit they might be getting, so that may very well just be business.
Ah, I see, that explains a lot. As I implied, I haven't paid much attention to what CCP had been doing with White Wolf. That sort of confirms my suspicions about how CCP was handling the property (i.e. Not well at all). Thanks for the clarification. Perhaps if this closure ends up biting CCP's bottom line hard enough, it might open an avenue for White Wolf to get spun off or reincarnated in a more sustainable form.
