With the way White Wolf has been focusing on this to the detriment of their books... Fuck CCP in the ass with a spiked vibrator. Ever since White Wolf was bought by CCP their releases have slowed to a crawl, but the fans supported them because they knew it was because of the focus on the MMO. Then they pull this, laying off at least one key member of White Wolf who worked primarily on their books? (Russell Bailey) Fuck those guys. They moved staff around in WW to work on a WoDMMO, start a project linked to EVE years later, then throw the WoDMMO on the backburner to focus on their FPS, and fire people from WW that they shuffled around.

I... how... ?

Ok, so they want to focus more on Eve, thats fine. But how on earth does having 'less' employees help you to work 'harder' on something? And how does having less employees in a 'different project' even have anything to do with it?

It would have made sense if they had taken people off of WoD and put them to work on Eve, but I just dont get what this is supposed to achieve.

The only reason I ever played EVE was to support them for buying White Wolf and giving the brand some love. Now? I don't see any reason to go back to EVE, it wasn't my thing, and it looks like they'll be neglecting WOD too.

My understanding of the article is that CCP fucked up so badly they can't afford to be running two project at once, at full steam ahead. So, its a money thing moreso than "we need to rush the improvements on EVE".

Besides, as hyped up about the WoD mmo as I am... considering what little info we've been given I doubt its far along enough to even consider seeing the first screenshot until at least 2014. Which is depressing.

Fair enough. I figured that was potentially the case.

Of course, what that would mean is the press release saying they are "refocusing on Eve" is really just marketing spin for "we laid off a bunch of people due to financial problems".

Unfortunately I agree about WoD hype vs reality, too... I was looking forward to it as well, and really interested to see how CCP goes with a much more thematic and personality based MMO.

This is not the kind of news I wanted to start my day off with. I had just recently heard about this game and while it was still in per-production it seemed like the kind of game I could get behind. With a reduced staff now and a focus on "Spreadsheets IN SPAAAAACE!" we'll likely never see it.
